Firstly I must stress that the content of this post in no way affects the upcoming BBWF2014. The 2014 event is fully self-sufficient, is legally a separate entity from the previous BBWF's, has its own bank account and organisers.

So please have a great BBWF 2014.

======================================================================================

Now, down to business:

I am sorry to say that the BBWF 2013 accounts have had to be revised. This is because the expenses for the event have been adjusted, i.e. the amount claimed has increased.

a) The 2012 accounts stand unchanged.
b) The 2013 accounts have been revised and make a small loss, instead of profiting to the extent of the announced amounts for charity. So BBWF 2013 will show no charity contribution.
c) The "Calendar Contribution" of £170 to BBWF 2013 which was donated in charitable causes has been forwarded (refunded) to BBWF2014.
d) There is a "float" carried forward for BBWF 2014 of £105.58 that has/is being paid into the BBWF account for 2014. This amount (as usual) is retained profit and should either be used to finance BBWF going forward, or donated to charity. On top of this, the "Calendar Contribution" of £170, and also there is an asset of £50 - the tug of war rope. So the total being sent forward is £325.58 including assets.
e) I have been acting as Treasurer for the 2013 BBWF and had no part in the management of the event, nor decisions on what or how much to spend, nor what to claim as operating expenses.
f) BBWF 2014 is a completely fresh start and has no connection to the previous BBWF events.

Now, there is a further complication, which is that the charity contribution for BBWF 2012 has not yet been made, but is still in the BBWF bank account. As per BBWF Charity - PistonHeads this amount raised was £461.12 to be split between Help for Heroes and the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Now for a little bit of good news - I have an extra personal donation of £40 to add to the funds, which I will pay direct to one of the charities. When the Government Tax refund is added, this comes to £50 grossed-up. BBWF2012 will then pay £50 less to the charities to match this, and the charities get the same money overall. If you can bear with me, this means that the "float" for BBWF 2014 has been increased by £50, which will hopefully be a little good news for Zig. (This is accounted for in the amounts above.)

So to sum up - as of today - BBWF2014 has been paid £220 already and will be paid £55.58 plus the Tug of War Rope.
HtH and EAAA will share £411.12 from BBWF 2012 direct and a £40 personal contribution worth £50. Receipts for this will be posted up over the next week as they become available.

Sorry for posting this news up now but I wanted to clear it up rather than have it hanging over. I know there have been a lot of rumours about BBWF 2013 and I wanted to explain the full story of the state of the finances. If you want to know the reasons behind this change you'll have to ask the person making the decisions on expenses, not me. Finally, this has taken a long time for me to sort out, and not to the satisfaction of all parties concerned, some compromises have had to be made.

Thank you for the information Adam.

I like others I have no doubt am wondering why a charity that was put to the fore of BBWF 2012 as being one that was one of great importance as they played such an important role in saving a wedgers life has not been donated to as of yet. I know you say this is going to take place this week but why the delay????? People tipped there hard earned up 2 years ago for this.

The merchandise in 2012 symbolised the helicopter as it was the main charity to benefit at the event and I am sure people gave a little extra for this cause. Sorry but I now look at my T-shirt & Mug and feel a little sadden by this.

Perhaps the main organiser of this BBWF would like to enlighten the people who donated to and supported this event.

Thanks for the information Adam. I'm sure it can't have been easy arriving at this point. Are you able to identify to whom questions relating to expenses should be directed? I know there was a lot of discussion about certain aspects of the 2013 event, particularly the "auction" that turned into a raffle. That particularly irked me, as I'm sure it did others, especially as Mrs. Number 7 had gone to the trouble of buying and embroidering herself some polo shirts, which we expected to raise much needed funds for the charities concerned, rather than virtually being given away.

So if I am reading this right, please tell me if I am not. There was no charity donation from BBWF 2013.....This after people had donated prizes and bought raffle tickets.

Is this also just going to be a versed statement that we accept with no feedback from the organiser of the event?

Please understand I am not being funny here just wanting to understand the facts of all of this.

This also is not a go at you Adam. Being honest I think you are being fed to the lions.

I think some further clarification is needed from someone (I'm sure you know who you are) about the massive discrepancy between the expectations as voiced in the thread below of several hundred pounds being available for the charitable donations, and the eventual reality of the situation. Adam has helpfully laid out the basic position, and the item that seems to have caused the problem is the expenses. Can the person who agreed these at the outset please provide some detail, as all of us who contributed financially or in kind to this event had expected that their efforts were going towards good causes.

Thanks.

Best of luck to Zig for this year's event, but the financial side if this type of thing should be the responsibility of a team, not one individual.

Thanks mate..TBH...Its not that difficult...It has cost me £70 and there could be as much as £600 for charity....One man and his Wedge is more than enough..It becomes too corporate with teams..Or so it seems...Ziga

I take it that the policy that goes with naming people on here is stopping people from doing so. Well everyone or most will know who is responsible.

Well done on taking this event over Zig, it looks like that is what it needed. You seem to have more going on than of late at the event also, and for a personal outlay of £70. How the previous expense claims from the charity earnings is so high defiantly seems wrong then.

I can't see why, as the individual is an active poster on PH. I would hope that they are able do the right thing and explain the absence of a charity donation, because it certainly does need explaining.

Reading the threads it would appear that persons handed out monies for the respective charities. Any monies donated to the charities surely should not become subject to expenses during the event.
Any expenses agreed as relevant should be taken from the event account and not from the fundraising money.

That is what you would expect to happen. But taking the monies donated to charity....Still struggling to get my head round this.....

What does it make it if someone asks you for donations for charity on the World Wide Web, then takes this money for expenses when you thought it was quite clearly going to charity. I mean who bought raffle tickets or made donations to the expenses fund?

Still awaiting a explanation from the person who normally has so much to say.

Sounds like Blue Peter in the 1970s. By the time they'd finished lining pockets and paying transportation, there was about half a handkerchief to clothe all of Africa.

I thought this thread was going to get more people commenting / questioning? But maybe people cannot be bothered, or it will open too many cans of worms and its best to let sleeping dogs lye.

So is a full copy of the accounts available as i still cannot see why the charity money got raided.

Personally, I'd like to see a full, itemised breakdown of the expenses claimed, before coming to any conclusion.

So how about Mr armoured vehicle, with a gun mounted on a rotating turret?

I'm sure that's not the case Neil as I - like convert - would like a bit more clarification about last years accounts before forming my opinion.
I think everyone is angry and aggrieved that the time effort and money contributed to last years fundraising appears to have come to nought after being swallowed up in expenses and running costs. If these expenses were necessary justifiable and properly accounted for then a line should be drawn under the matter - however much of a bitter taste it leaves in the mouth.
I'm sure that either Adam or last years organiser will be able to give us a some more information on last years expenditure in due course
