NO......weeping

Seriously though..She was a good reliable car..Her chassis was in good condition for a 32 year old car..Plus i might wait until she has sold and then advertise the blower kit that will go straight on...For 213bhp and 207ftlb torque... smile

Gave her a right good clean up this afternoon, full wash and polish and a little bit of fine wet and dry on the alloys to take the blemishes out then a good helping of autosol. Not going to lie, she's looks pretty good, may give her a good hoover out tomorrow and fix the iffy bonnet catch smile

Ideally wanted it to stay in UK, but if he wants to pay the money then I can't turn it down as there's not much other interest, I would've thought it would be right up a pistonhead members street, everyone loves a cheap TVR!

Don't worry, once people have finished butchering them, the un-fked ones will be worth more wink

Seems that more and more often, no sooner do people buy the cars than they start hacking them about. Perhaps some people would be better off building a kit car to their perfect specification and leave the apparently-flawed ones to those who appreciate them for what they are, not what they might be if you chopped a bit off and glued a bit on.

No fibreglass work involved, original engine and brakes still hanging in there, no seats from Jap cars, lights from Concorde or blinging Mercedes alloys that almost fit. Indicator stalks soon swap back and the cruise control is what TVR would probably have fitted if anyone wanted it as it was the system used on the SD1/ Range Rover. So modifications yes, bodgifications no.
The only bodge on my car is the front indicators and even that didn't involve chopping the bumper up, the Renault ones will still slot straight in when I can find some for a price I want to pay. Probably in France, maybe next year biggrin

Cruise control for the Chim should be easy enough, later RangeRover system should work wink

Mods none the less. People have different angles at how they see there car to be. Some people take there cars to pieces and don't use them for years. Some people drive them all year round so look for a bit more from them....Like Cruise Control for instance. I think that would of been a great option for those of us that don't just drive our cars around the block.

Some people build cars that TVR with the technology available to them at the time would of struggled to build.

Each to there own I say. And as long as people do what they want with there car either pure or modified I think that also is there choice.

...but most of them don't. And the fact that Wedges continue to get cheaper means they will continue to end up with owners who see it as this season's toy, bodge a bit here and there (usually in the name of image) and sell up quick when the going gets tough.

Furry muff, but as a quick glance at any issue of Classic Cars mag will show, only rarely do modifications make any given car more desirable or valuable later in its life. Interesting that Nelly was restored closer to how Peter Wheeler had her than how she might have been with some quad-cam, twin turbo, nitrous Jap engine - clearly with more of an eye on originality.

There have been plenty of posters on PH over the years who have sworn blind that they'll never sell their wedge, it's the best car ever etc. etc. and if that were genuinely the case than any modifications would be irrelevant as the car's value would never be tested in the market.
The reality is that life changes, cars do get sold and it would be unwise to assume that you'll find someone who likes your snakeskin seats, 1.9L Peugeot diesel conversion and lights from a Fiat Multipla as much as you do wink

There are people who have sworn they will never sell there wedge, me being one. Then in my case I look back and say been there done that and can always go back. In the sheep case it is best to explore the whole field and not just kick around with the shepherd.

Multipa eh, got me thinking rip the transmission tunnel out. Move the gearstick to the dash and stick an extra seat in there.

Not everyone is a purist. People change, some for the better and some because they think they know best, which is not always the case.

So using that logic Rob, would you buy a string of Ferraris, Astons, Mercs, Escort Mk2s and chop each and every one about then sell it? I suspect most people who try different cars just leave them as they are, so why should TVRs attract people who seem to think they can do better than the factory? It's not just the Wedges either...

Well it looks like Delilah is up to her old tricks...hehe..I hope i didn't ruin her by blinging up the engine, Okay i tried adding a supercharger but it was to an original spec engine and not some jap crap whizz bang high revving lawn mower..Or a diesel..God forbid!...
And now with Poppy i have added some bling but hopefully in keeping with the car..I wouldn't want to spoil the lines as i personally love them and think TVR got it right in the first place.

As far as mods are concerned the only ones i feel are worthy are ones to maybe the brakes and some of the wiring...Okay i fitted some Chimaera seats in but i have retained the originals as i find them a lot more comfy then the Chim ones..I was going to get them re-trimmed but can't afford it now..The ones in Delilah were from an NSX but that was only because i couldn't find a decent pair of Wedge seats at the time and the old ones were shot..

I do plan on keeping poppy so a bit of personalisation is fine...I think.....Ziga
