What not to do to an exhaust.
Discussion
Friend had Clutched changed, and they cut the exhaust out to make it easy for themselves, would not mind if they cut it after the flange join of the manifolds. so we had to re-build them, as they did not even give the cut of parts to the customer.
I also cut the joining bars of the headers as IMHO they don't do anything and just look horrible.
All going back on with ARP small head bolts, and Nord-lock washers, and quality big bore gaskets.

Does anyone know what the side bars do that join the tops of the headers, or are that just part of the fabrication process.
Well the obvious would be that it keeps the individual flanges in their relevant locations during fabrication, to save bolting them to a jig, but it may also serve to keep them aligned once a few heat cycles have messed with the stresses in the system - be a bit of a bu99er if you remove the system and the flanges all 'spring' relative to each other, getting it back on would be a riot.clive f said:
Lee you need to stop the seagulls getting in your workshop,
they have pooped on your pipes.
seriously though does the job mate.
Well we was short on time, so could not have time to get the right bends. so was all made with cut straight tube, plus existing metal was thin and rusty, plus not got a pro. tig set up like you
