Hi Peeps...Noticed that Poppy's battery is leaking from the clip in access panels...Not good!...So was wondering if anyone has found a particular battery that offers reliability and value for money...There are a few options but wanted to see what the majority say...Cheers...Ziga

I've put Bosch on my cars (rover SD1, civic and shogun) and all are superb.

Yup, s4 027 Bosch silver 630 amp 70 ah, mind you I did have to file off some of the casing extrusions to squeeze it in, probably depends how thick the chappy laid the fibreglass in 1980 wotsit.

It's probably topped up too high - let it go down to just above the plates on each cell.

Hi Adam...I did check it yesterday and it seems to be that now..Not sure if its boiling or just coming out due to going over speed bumps...Its only just started happening so i don't want to take any chances....Especially as the gases released are VERY highly flammable...

Any good tyre place that sells batteries should be able to test it for you free of charge. If one or two cells are failing, then , they'll be the ones boiling over as they tend to overcharge. Though it's probably just overfilled because if they were failing you'd get some weakness in the morning start. Buying a new battery, you get what you pay for. If you need to replace, go for a well known make and the most powerful that fits in the holder. Like everything else though, you need to shop around.

Hi Tony...It seems to be working ok but the spillage is a concern..I used to work with batteries and have seen one explode due to it leaking..Not good mate...Like a small bomb.

I had it tested a little while ago and the charge was just on the limit.

The bible say's an 072 or 075 but just wanted to hear what the majority use....Cheers...Ziga

Zig, my old one kept getting a wet patch over one cell before it let me down, changed it for the one mentioned above but in addition a bought a battery conditioner do can leave it monitored all the time.
