I took a drive out yesterday, enjoying the lovely sunshine..and I stopped at Duxford Air Museum. I didn't go in, I just grabbed a drink and sat on the kerb in the carpark...hoping a Spitfire would go up! None did.
I was sat about 10 meters away from my Wedge, when 2 guys came out of the museum & walked to their car..which meant walking past my SEAC.
You can guess what happened next... The older guy says 'look at that lovely TR7' The cheek!! I corrected him, but I don't think he sussed it was mine as he said he was sure it was a TR7, as he had owned one before!
I ended up pointing to the badge..TVR!!
Actually, once he realized his mistake, they both took an interest & wanted to know more about it.

Sorry, bit of a dull story, but...TR7 Indeed!!

Hi Wayne you were unlucky - there are spits flying around quite often this time of year. I live only a few miles down the road and sometimes you get swarms of them overhead! A good time to come is the friday before any airshow - usually a lot of practice then.
There is a better place to stop - the road to Duxford village perpendicular to the A505, where anything taking off will cross overhead. There's a dirt layby but watch out for ruts.

Thanks.. I will have a drive there next! I always thought I would like to live next to Duxford, or similar. Hell for some, but I would love it! Once pulled up for fuel and a guy said ( Wow nice paint job on your Ferrari mate ) I then pointed to the TVR badge on the bonnet, to which he replied ( Oops sorry still a cool car mate ) I then started the SX up which made every one turn round !!
One of a few things TVR Wedges do better than a Ferrari...the sound!!

Guy with an Aston DB7 Vantage convertible broke down outside our house on Sunday with a flat and no wheel brace so changed his tyre for him. Asked him to give it some beans and the noise was utterly feeble. I did show him how a proper car should sound. Took kids and dog out for a walk and there was a tidy TR7 in the car park, just to get back on topic.
I used to have a big sticker in the rear screen of Delilah that clearly stated.."THIS IS NOT A TR7"...But while parked in Greenwich park one afternoon i over heard a fella talking to his girlfriend..He was saying.." Err..I think its a TR5 or 8"..So i called out..."Its a TVR mate" to which he replied.."Yeah i know but what model..TR4...TR.."...I said.."Its not TR anything...Its a TVR"....Then there was an American dude in the park and said.."Wow what a beautiful triumph TVR"...I said.."Its got nothing to do with triumph"..But still got looked at like i don't know what I'm on about!...It used to annoy me but after a while it just made me laugh...Delilah was also called a Ferrari..A GTR..GT7...TR5...And a TR7.....

I had a chap in a landrover pull up next to me in the petrol station today and say...

what a great TVR!
Yay - result. And he was only about 22-23 years old, i.e. younger than the Wedge!
Then he proceeded to talk about the V8 in his disco being the same so I said - I bet you haven't got a supercharger on yours. So the bonnet was up to show off the blower.
There is hope for da yoof of today after all.
