Values?!?

Is it just me or are there some very pricey wedges about at the moment? I'm hoping to get back into wedgedom at some point but the two 400se in the classifieds at present scare the c**p out of me with their asking price!

I was hoping to get a seac for under 20K or am I ?

whole classic car market is nudging up......so better jump on the band wagon sharpish

the 400SE's do tend to demand a tad more from what Ive seen ,they always get snapped up

A blue one just ended unsold on ebay for 8.5k so with a little negotiation its a 7.5>8k car ish which when you think what you are getting its a quite the bargain

there are some bargains still to be had, I just picked up a corker of a 420SE......it was sold, bought, then for sale again so everyone on here dismissed the old girl and no one went to go look......I did and snapped her up as she is fantastic, goes like a storm and looks great.

The prices do seem very variable at the moment - how many are actually eventually selling at the higher prices, I don't know.

Seac for less than £20k is definitely possible. My old red 420seac recently sold again for approx £19k, having had a small fortune spent on it in recent years.

Well, I know what I paid for a fantastic 400se -(so do you Chris) and you know what... It's been every pound well spent

Despite constant suggestions from 'she who must be obeyed' telling me to sell it while prices are high
The car is staying in my fleet...and if anything I will add to it with a Griff.

It's been the best £50k I've ever spent on a car....

For what its worth if you go onto Cars and Barassic and check 70s MG prices there are cars from 2k to 25k with the 25k being about 5% of the cars for sale but they will be that price for a reason and TVRs should be no different IMOP you buy what you can afford but generally buying the cheapest is much more costly in the long run unless your very lucky or extreamly talented.
Also the dearer cars tend to sit around longer and dont sell as quick so gives a false impression.

It's just that my previous 400 and 450 cost me under well under 10K each and were both known cars and very good ones too.

Guess I will just have to see what the market is like once I get back up and running.

Not been much increase in prices of the 350's so that is still in my opinion a cheap way in to wedge ownership.

I know I've chipped on some values threads but I'll be looking to sell the 390SE once it's all running tip top and I'm not entirely sure where to place it. Although I've posted about problems in reality they've come down to the car having a dodgey ignition amp, a breather issue, and minor running issues that are to be sorted.

I don't think anyone's seen it in the flesh on the forum apart from Barrington but it's a stunning car. I'm wondering what the chances are of getting £6,250 for it? All poly bushed, adjustable suspension, original rarer John Eales engine, 57k, 8 owners (last one 18 years)

Maybe its just the onset of summer with the sunshine and every seller is hoping to capitalise on it, it'll probably slow down again for the winter.
To be honest I wonder if public forums like these d9 the prices any good as all the washing gets aired on here warts an all so can have a detrimental effect on people who may be looking to buy, wedges are basically a hands on car and may not suite the average bank manager or solicitor with the extra,cash in their pockets. Did I make sense?

Paid more than that for mine, and it needs some work to get it among the real nice ones!

yes it does - clearly all my posts about the issues I've had aren't gonna do me any favours when I can finally put it it up for sale. Just gonna have to be honest and mention the ignition amp, breather probs, exhaust and whatever the top end misfire was when cured - all of which, combined with a major life event at the start of the year just meant I lost any interest in the car sadly. I know it's frustrated a lot of forum users that I haven't resolved all these problems myself and just wanted to get someone to sort it but even that has proved difficult with Mowatts being the latest lot to string me along. I was in a bad place and just didn't need the agro of the car - now things are improved I just don't want the car.

Really very grateful to TVRLeighBBW who'll be looking at it shortly - what's the betting it's something really simple! I'm sure it will be a belter for someone who just gets on and uses it - previous owner took it to Le Mans a couple of times so it can do the distances - it's just me, lol!
