Colour and paint codes

Hi, anyone know what colour my wedge is (don't say "blue" lol)

Alternatively where can I find the paint code please?

Under the bonnet, passenger side, there should be a TVR plate. Where it says 'body code' and there are a series of numbers. The first letter and three numbers are the paint code. For exsmple, mine says P422 and the another four numbers. The P422 is the paint code and mine is storm metallic grey. However don't forget your paint has faded and the new paint might be a shade out. To have an accurate match, you may need to visit a paint shop for a chemical match. In think the large Halfrauds might have such a service.

Mine says P422 too, maybe it's the four figures that distinguishes the colour?

Oceanic Blue sounds more like it? I visualise crystal blue as being lighter? Happy to be corrected of course

It looks the same as mine and I am going through the same right now trying to find a definitive colour code.
I had the front end of mine re-sprayed and the guys who did it give me a touch up with the code 1179b Oceanic Blue, not only is that not in the paint codes on this site but I have also been to a pro paint supplier to get an aerosol made up and it doesn't show in any of there records either.

There is mention of it being vw audi Oceanic blue but not sure if this has ever been confirmed.

I am taking the car itself to paint suppliers at weekend so that they can match up with one of those magic guns that identify colours, if I get to a definitive answer I will let you know but I feel with most things TVR there will be slight differences along the same theme

Yes, it could well be the four numbers after the P422 that distinguishes the colour, but in any case some fading would have occured over the years and chemical matching may still be required.

OK for info, been to the paint supplier today but the magic gun does not recognize the paint as anything in its it memory banks

Checked it against the VW/Audi Oceanic Blue and it certainly isn't that, there is a definite difference.

We did eventually come across the 1179b code, seems to be from a paint maker Nexa - not sure if this is a PPG or ICI company, whichever the only thing seemingly listed was aqua base?? surely must be available in 2k as water based paints surely won't have been used back in 87.

The paint supplier is following up on this and will get back to me, i only wanted an aerosol to attempt eliminating chips in the wing mirrors, how hard can it be.

Went back to the guy who sprayed the front of the car and he assures me he used 2k so if all else fails looks like i will have to wait until i get the remainder re resprayed come autumn but will certainly be getting extra paint mixed for the future.

Not sure how this helps the OP but thought i would share the findings for reference to anyone with Oceanic blue.
