Any TVR with a 72 mm plenum also tends to have 3.9 cast into the top of the plenum - my 5 litre does.......am travelling in stealth mode!

The 4 litre V8 in the Chim 400 is a 3952 IIRC (rangie engine). So you could call it a 3.9 or a 4.0. Is the same true of the wedge V8s? What is stamped on top (cast into the plenum) depends on where the plenum came from I believe.

Basically they are all 3952 or there abouts, so on the plenum it could say 4.0 or 3.9 it really doesn't matter, as no engine is exactly 4 litre. However, they are all refered to as a 4 litre in everyday conversation. I hope that helps. Sorry for the confusion.

I am not sure, but I think this was a modification available early on for convenience when changing the oil and stopping its contents draining back during long periods of storage.
