A bit tired but looks to be an honest one. A black FHC does look mean - anyone from the forum?? Current owner for 23 years.

Nice to see an S1 still going, hope it gets the tlc it needs.

I like the way the rear screen stands proud of the c-pillar, just like it does on mine.

a rare car.....but leaving the rose-tinted glasses aside:

the paintwork is cracked and faded
it has been already resprayed
enginebay was not resprayed

slight corrosion on the chassis...whatever mean slight...the renovation work, even some years ago, seems not having been done properly

wood in dash is cracked
seats damaged
looks generally untidy inside.
steering wheel damaged
non-original gear knob

enginebay untidy

one of the models wired with only black wires throughout the car, wiring does already look "touched"..will be a nightmare to find faults

k-jetronic might suffer from storage (or has already suffered)

non-original mirrors fitted

nice to have good year eagles nct...but not nice when they are 20years or more old

no info about suspension, brakes etc....

so all in all a basket case.....you will find a tidy one for the same (buy-now) price...as i dont expect that the seller will let it go for a low price...he will "take care2 that bids will rise.

Errrr the seller is a well renown tvr garage who've just prepd the car so it went through the mot after years being in pieces

Having actually seen the car IMHO it looks a good solid base

The seller is very clear in the ad that it has room for improvement but with a rebuilt engine, new breaks, fuel lines etc etc it's not a bad starting point for a cheap ready to go Trevor

I don't think the cosmetics matter - as long as the engine, drivetrtain suspension and brakes are working, it's a bargain. And - prices can only go up!!!!

Hope it's gone to a good home and Wedge enthusiast and we see it again returned to former glory. I really liked the look of it.

the engine was rebuilt long time ago...and no info about the quality nor extent of rebuilt...some call an engine rebuilt when they have changed seals and gaskets, such people would also call a car restored when it was resprayed...

new calipers, new fuel lines and new tie-bar bushes...all this work costs next to nothing and is easy to do....it sounds good in an advert, but those are basics.

also a mot does not prove anything....as the seller is a garage he will have its mot-tester´s for "critical" cars....for sure!!!

dont get me wrong..i calculate like this:

the car was theoretically sold for 2k outside ebay (even i would have paid not more than 1300)...the next owner invests time and money to get things right...lets even calculate a quick backyard respray for 800pound....

after 2 years the car will have cost 4k to make it sort of reliable and kind of nice looking...all the hard work / time not calculated...

and for 4k i will buy one which is better from the beginning, do not need to do all the hard and time consuming work and the 4k car will be still better than this car after having invested 4k in total.

unemotional conclusion (for me): its not worth buying it for 2k...its maybe even not worth restoring it.

Surprisingly some people actually enjoy rebuilding a car and improving it, as a hobby. It's the huge sense of achievement you get from standing back and seeing what you've achieved. It's nothing to do with the money. I had a TR6 many years ago. I spent £6,500 in parts and 1800 hours of my time rebuilding it and I loved almost every minute of it. I could have bought a decent one for the same money but I wanted to restore my basket case and get it back to near perfect condition and save it from the scrapyard.

If I had spare space in my garage I would have bought this Wedge for the satisfaction of knowing that I'd saved a classic and reasonably rare vehicle. A vehicle that was getting to that borderline value where it might be worth more for spares than as a complete car.

You either get it..... or you don't.

i want to drive my cars and keeping them in good condition...restoration isnt my part but i have no problem in doing all necessary repairs myselves...and maybe thats the reason why i see it from a differnt view.

surplus i´m not focused on a specific car or model...i always think: "i have e.g.: 10k in my pocket...which car is the best i will get for 10k"...means i have several cars ( same type, style, epoche) in my mind...if brand A in reasonable condition cost 8k but brand B in perfect ,as new condition, costs 9k i will choose B becaus ei will get A with 1k not in the condition of B

so i might drive a lotus instead of a TVR..or a chimeara instead a griffith..or a scimitar instead a gilbern.

I think it has been clear that you would not part with your money for a lot of things when you see your other posts will be interesting to see when your selling not buying I guess that will require a new Piston Head name smile

Can't be, he didn't mention the cheap aftermarket sunroof.
