Mark, I can see you are proud of your solid American walnut knob, and it does look good. Myself, I prefer my shiny polished aluminium knob, custom made by a guy known as 'Properknob'. It all boils down to what type of knob you prefer to be holding in your hand between those gear changes.

Just to clarify...This is my knob..English Walnut.

So as you can see talking about my knob is very hard...Don't know what its coming to when you have to beat around the bush with your knob..
Mark, I'm a little confused. You say your knob is 'English Walnut' but I didn't think a walnut tree grows in England, so what part of England did the wood come from? America and India are famous for walnut. I know because I supply walnuts in my catering supplies business. What do you reckon?

I'm not an envious man..particularly when it comes to liking the look of another man's knob..but that is rather nice. 
I changed the knob on my SEAC recently as the previous one was terrible, but I'm still not happy. The one fitted now is an eBay wood-alike special. Better, but still not great.
The issue I have with the current 'knob' is that it loosens after use, particularly repeated reverse gear useage. The 3 little Allen screws are as tight as they can be..without rounding them off! Cheap!
The screw on knobs like yours Zig are the preferred fitment.
Do I dare ask others to..show us your knob?

Hi mate...I had that one made by a friendly furniture restorer...Im planning on making some similar as i have a mini-lathe in the loft that i need to get down and then stick a washing machine motor to..The plan was to make some in exotic woods...mrzigazaga said:

My aluminium knob is properly threaded and locked with a nut from underneath. None of this useless grub screw lark. It was made by 'Properknob' and is virtually bullet proof.
