Fantastic shots. You lucky bugger - how did you pull that off?
My local classic car club was invited by one of the owners of the lightnings based there. They're unique, in that they're in a taxi-able state.
I'm hoping to go in two weeks, to view a full re-enactment of an emergency scramble!

Fantastic V-Maxx!!!!!
Love the colour matching
Love the Lightning, as the first aircraft that could take off then pull back the stick
and go vertical and still accelerate in a vertical climb to mind blowing speeds
My son reminded me of another great Lightning story just yesterday.
Concorde invited any air force to bring their jets to fly with them to show off their speed
When Concorde was in the cruise (with no reheat on) nothing could keep with it then
EXCEPT the Lightning!!!!!
Only problem was the Lightning was on reheat to do this and the pilot soon turned for home
(He was actually then so short of fuel that he had to climb while returning to his base
and his final landing was a glide as he had no fuel left!!!!)
This weekend I am taking my Region and neighbours to Breighton Wings and Wheels near Selby, N Yorks.
All the aircraft here will be pre WW2, with some visiting WW2 aircraft and BBMF DC3 flypast

Will try find a matching coloured aircraft for my Mica Blue 400SE
or may just choose the Red Barons Fokker Tri-plane Replica there!!!!
Great pics

It was a tail intercept, only the Lightning could overhaul Concorde, XR749 if I recall, same aircraft that intercepted a U2 spyplane ... from above: "Oh yooohooo, U2! I'm up here" etcLove the colour matching

Fast taxi at Bruntingthorpe is worth a visit, don't forget earplugs.
