Been having a play with the look of my 390 with the idea of going more stealth looking, what do you think? The lights are tinted and I've covered the area between with adhesive black vinyl, also thinking of repacing the stripes and 390SE decals with black ones....

Cheers, Al.

A long time ago in my boy racer days I did exactly the same to my old GTi

Was forever getting stopped by the police as it brightness is not legal when that tinted

For me (but it ain't my car) I'd leave well alone

Actually I'd forgotten I've got a tin of that stuff in the shed! Maybe a touch too dark for me but got me thinking about just toning mine down a bit, taking the edge off.

Was the Fuego ever sold in the US? Would look cool with no amber!

I too can see where your going. Black number plates look far better than yellow. unfortunately the rozzers love to be a pain where the plates are concerned. Your lights are just an extra invitation to the party.

I think it looks well.

I did this to a car of mine when I was a yoof and to keep it legal I didn't fully spray out the reflectors, I just made lines over it using a pinstripe which I peeled off after, it meant some of the reflector still showed through.

On a later car I sprayed the indicators and reverse lights in red making the whole lamp one colour. I liked that as well and was less common that the black at the time.

The lights are still legal as they are all still visible as are the reflectors, I had rear lights on my old MG ZTT 260 exactly the same and never had any problems with MOT or police and that was a daily driver....granted the plates are not strictly legal but there are plenty of cars running round with black plates on that shouldn't be and the classic car dealer where my brother bought his Griff has a modern Land Rover with black plates and he said hes never had any problems...time will tell...anyway heres a pic of the front...

Cheers, Al.

I have seen the Fuego clusters available with clear indicators for use with amber bulbs.

I recall a set is fitted to Henry Harris's beast.

I was thinking all red tbh but when I checked ebay in the states they're the same as european spec with amber indicators. boooo!

I had no idea a new set in the UK is thought to be worth £180!

I really like that.. gives a really cool look IMO.

Just as a thought, how are the rear lights and rear panel tinted on the White Elephant, could a similar method be used ? must admit though, never seen a pic of the White Elephant with the rear lights on.
