Curious - how much would I make breaking 390SE?
Discussion
DONT do it mate....Saying that you would probably recuperate most of your money back...But its scrapping another rare and stunning example...Persevere ..It took me a whole year to sort Delilah out..In fact just to get her running...She's nothing special in the eye of those in the know but she was to me and at least a 32 year old TVR will see some sort of future...I reckon you will kick yourself when you find the problem..If not then i will....

I'm currently not ruling anything out so curious what breaking the car would bring?
And how it would break down - big or small pieces?
Well, I've got a sledge hammer you can borrow. That should be able to take it down to very small pieces. However, if it's dismantling you've got in mind, then I would imagine down to as many parts as possible and shelve the items ready for sale. Would it be cost effective compared to selling the whole car? Possibly, but being a 390SE I think you would loose out on it's rarity factor. 390SE's these days are hard to come by, where as you'd be selling the parts as mostly ordinary Wedge parts. And how it would break down - big or small pieces?

... only interesting to a very small market, I'd have said... and if I was to blow 2.5 large on my car it wouldn't involve putting a vanity plate on it.
Exactly...I think i would spend it on a refurbed diff and rear calipers and the rest sorting out the scabby paintwork....
Blimey! Well, I wasn't expecting quite the reaction on this thread - just working through possible options is all.
I've spoken to someone who recently broke an S1 wedge and the results were actually very good but of course a lot of those parts are quite rare. On balance I think the aggravation of breaking versus return in my case isn't worth it.
@Zig - Indeed but when they're all sorted some people like plates!
I've had 3 separate plate valuations today based on which I'd be right to stick it up for £1k so it makes sense to part it off from the car before selling as it doesn't really add anything to resale as far as I can see.
