Right guys and gals,
Some of you have been blessed with seeing my motor in the flesh. Some have just seen photos.
The engine is tip top, gearbox is fine too.
But i'm fed up fixing wee things piecemeal. As in the pods have burst again, the fuel pump fuse keeps blowing, the temp gauge has failed now, the passenger window doesn't work. The interior is crap.
all little things which can be fixed.
I've managed under 100 miles since the BAR run, it's not going to make it for the RNR
So I'm contemplating Sorning it long term and stripping the whole engine, body and chassis and doing a proper full long term resto.
What do you all think?
I'll be doing it in the drive (no garage) so expecting to do this long term.
What do you think? Be honest.
cheers
marcus

Hi mate...Sounds like you have a few electrical gremlins that need sorting...I would try to find them..The interior can be sorted on a small budget without it looking cheap...And can be done bit by bit...I wouldn't attempt a resto unless i had the money to cover every eventuality..And a garage to keep it in from the elements...Do you know a friendly auto-electrician who doesn't mind fault finding..It can be a right pain but also an easy fix...Chin up mate...Ziga

It's good that Wedges are lovingly rebuilt, but if it's working then drive it. Only on this planet for so long. 6'C here, must go.

I wouldn't do a full strip if it all had to be done outside unless I had a massive fetish for cold and wet. Mine's been up n stands for two years indoors and I still walk away if it's cold or I'm not in the mood - it's only a hobby, I don't want it to turn into an ordeal.

Work through the issues, but take your time.
Spend a weekend overhauling the entire door. Grease the hinge. Replace the channel felt. T-Cut the glass (you'd be surprised how grotty it gets). Paint the sliding channel etc. etc.

Strip and repaint the chassis tubes a couple at a time (that's how I've been doing it, almost finished now biggrin).
Start by dropping the exhaust silencer and propshaft, then you can get at the upper tubes along the spine (which will probably be the tidiest anyway). While the prop's out, repaint it and fit new UJs. It's only a couple of hours' work and will probably never need doing again (well, not for another quarter-century...).

Report back in a couple of months' time... biggrin

How do you deal with V8 withdrawal symptoms? Or do you have another V8? Although flapper RV8 soundtrack is unique; mine varies according to ambient air temp, there's a step change in the "distant artillery fire" at about 8'C and below.
