I think the best guesstimates in recent years put it at 50-60% (so about 1200 cars).
It gets confusing because some have changed hands a few times in a short period.
There are probably a couple of hundred locked away in garages due to lack of time or interest.

Hi mate...This was taken from a gooogle search..

Model

350i DHC = 897
280i DHC = 862
400SE DHC = 242
280i FHC(s2) = 140
280i FHC(s1) = 118
390SE/420SE DHC = 103
350i FHC = 52
280i 2+2FHC = 47
200 DHC = 45
420SEAC DHC = 37
450SE DHC = 35
450SEAC DHC = 18
200 FHC = 16
350i 2+2 FHC = 6
350SX DHC 3 - 5
280i Turbo FHC = 1
280i Turbo DHC = 1
660SE DHC = 1

And there was "Peter's White Elephant", and allegedly one or two 500SEs, and possibly a 350 Turbo, and a 4X4 Wedge, and an estate version; plus all the ones that didn't work or were cancelled (such as the 420 Sports Saloon, and the Speed Eight - cancelled twice).

Not sure how accurate this info is though....

I also thought there was a 430SE and a 460SE and the Zante....Would be interesting to find out how many are actually left but like Wedg1e say's..There are probably a fair number locked up and hidden away/Scrapped/Butchered...Sadly.

430 Ruby Red Mica is with me, 1992 last wedge built. Saw another one at Wedgefest probably 2007/2008
I must have the only wedge with heated seats - cosy!
