Hi Peeps.

Sitting here pondering as you do on a rainy bank holiday and although i have a date for next years BBWF at EC i personally think it needs to be moved to a different venue, I know this has been discussed before but it really needs to happen.

Ideally we need a venue that can cater for all of our needs...Rooms at an affordable rate...A large are to park in and host the RR...Auto-valet and possible traders...Somewhere to host the evening do and most importantly a late bar....smile

I have been looking at venues and did enquire at the Aviator aerodrome hotel in Northamptonshire and although they can accommodate most of our needs the bar closes at 12.30....eek...(Off to bed now you naughty children).....We also need somewhere to runout to on the Saturday and possibly Sunday..

The second factor is where...I think it would be fair on all if its moved to different parts of the country now and then.
So if anyone has any ideas then please put them forward...Cheers...Ziga

I have been looking at venues all over England..There were some good ones in Chester and Sheffield..Like i said if you know of any...Don't be shy...
It would be nice to give those who travel 200+ miles to get to BBWF a break, Us southerners will just have to be prepared to travel a bit further..And then alternate it...Perhaps even an international BBWF to say somewhere like Holland..smile

Obviously the event will need to cater for all and not just the hard core "Rufty tufty" gang...bandit..(We know who we are)...whistle

I have loved all the previous 4 BBWF's...There was always something to remember...For instance i can remember..Rusty nail..(Yes i really do remember)...A fight at the bar....The Dutch in orange morph suits...Doughnuts..11'S...Elvis...Robert plant...Oh and the mouldy bread with a dead kipper on it for starters at the hotel...hehe

These moment i will always treasure...

I'm going to try to as current organiser make it affordable..Value for money...Good food...Good fun...Without losing any of the origins of it all...

I would also like to hold it slightly later in the year so late July-early August, I know its no guarantee but it might ensure better weather...Or less rain...I guess Wales and Scotland are out then.....wobble...Only messing...

I appreciate all the feedback ....beer

Pitch your tents up by the evo triangle (Denbigh), then blast around all day, with a Barbie and beer tent on the night, listening to the glorious echo of v8`s all day long, sounds just perfect.

Late July or early August might get better weather Mark but being the holiday season you could loose numbers! Early July might be worth it though.

There were a few other candidate hotels with big car parks slightly further north.

I'll have to dig through the old posts.....

Good idea to keep EC in yer back pocket for now though...

The place we used for this years BAR is a great venue. Massive car park, great hotel with all the add-ons, Spa, WIFI (Free) and the bar closes when the last man falls over. Very accommodating friendly staff, great pub just like the White Horse a 3 minute walk away, Good cheap food. Very close to the main road route but put of town.

Might be to far north though. Sunderland area.

10 mins from the ferry port for the Dutch crew.

Would you really want every passing chav scrote in a chavved-up chav-wagon pulling in for a gawp and demanding a race though?
At least EC is a bit off the beaten track for the Kevs.

For me, somewhere in Derbyshire would be about as central (for the English biggrin) as you can get - alas every interesting road in the county has a 50 limit and/or average speed cameras on it.

I've heard the people are more friendly up north :-)

I remember visiting Newcastle many years ago - I thought I was in a different country compared to the smoke, what with everyone being so friendly, saying hello and smiling with it.

These days you don't know your neighbour in London rolleyes

Date wise late June or early July is good. If you enter school holiday times that would count a number of us out now that the government insists we can't take the kids out of school for cheaper holidays even though they only play games and watch DVDs the last week of term. Also as I sit here in a tent in the pouring rain the weather over the last few years has been best before the holidays and crap during them. Personally I would prefer something reasonably central. Anywhere from Chester down to Bristol and or across to Derbyshire. The Hoole hotel near Chester is a good spot and close to Oulton Park. Bath or Bristol close to Castle Combe and South to the Haynes motor museum. Derby way good for a run out to the Donington museum and close to M1 for transport links. Chatsworth area is good but as said roads are full of cameras. Rain just stopped. Buckets, spades and waterproofs to be loaded.

I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every BBWF held at EC so far... ( the ones I have attended)

Do not mind if the venue changes.., if it is further away for me than EC... great as I get to drive my wedge farther. driving

For me, the venue would need - car parking ( obviously ), Beds, a late-ish opening bar, friendly atmosphere and good food.
A scenic location / good surrounding roads would be nice but not a must as for me the highlight is meeting everyone, having alaugh and socializing for the weekend

I imagine that probably doesn't narrow down the list at all ?

couple of things are definite though..

I will be there..
I will be staying for the whole weekend as I cant miss out on the evening laughs we had this year !! - chuckling to myself now thinking about them.laugh

Always enjoyed ec and wedge fest and being quite central works well. Further north obvoiusly suits all us northerners and the scots so might be worth doing and seeing what response you get. As a negative when it was held at Blackpool a few years ago the numbers were very poor with hardly anyone from the south coming.
