Hi all! Just purchased a 1985 TVR 280i. I am having a hard time identifying the correct rebuild kit for the front brakes. The piston is 2.125 inch diameter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge - the suspension arms and bits are Cortina mk4, (ball joints are Cortina - but not sure).
The uprights and stub axle, discs etc. are Granada mk2. Both the solid and vented discs are from the Granny, the high performance/luxury Granny spec had the vented disc. Calipers are the Ford version of the PB16 (wider version for vented discs) which was used on various models of Euro Fords of this period (Cortina/Granny/Capri,Escort)

I don't think TVR ever changed this on the wedges, but probably wrong for the higher perf V8 versions.....

Yep - M16 is the metric (and Ford) version of the original PB16 caliper.

I *think* (but again not sure) the rebuild kit is the same as say, the TR6 (which had PB16, and M16 on later models)
but not sure if piston sizes stayed the same between imperial and metric versions. I know you can interchange the pads (done that !)

I can remember someone telling me about that actually think it was my boss in all fairness, so I would say you were correct sir ,
and there is a M16 kit on ebay currently for about 50 quid ish , 4 pistons , seals , dust seals etc.
(54mm pistons) type In 'escort mk2 caliper kit' it will pop up smile

Good luck
Zack

Bill at Dominion Spares in VA has the rebuild kits. I recently purchased a set from him for my 350i. Same caliper. Didn't end up using the kits because the calipers were so bad I had to replace with new.
