85 280i Brake master cylinder rebuild kit question
Discussion
Okay, so your help was invaluable regarding caliper rebuild info. How about the brake master cylinder rebuild kit. The bore is around .810". Appears that there should be four piston seals and two rubber seals under the reservoir. Escort mk2, capri, etc. don't look like the correct kits. Any advice?
Thanks, John

My MC is also Cortina Mk4 (1982 Tasmin) , but the servo itself is apparently Capri/Escort or something, as it's smaller than the Cortina one.
I know they swopped MC to different ones over the models, so not sure what later ones are, I think I read here they changed to Rover SD1 ?? Anyone help here ?
NB. I see that you are in USA - for info, if you're scanning Web for parts, the Australian built Cortina 3 and 4 had Australian made brakes and other bits, which don't match the European ones (and therefore TVR).
Stick to UK / Germany for your Ford bits.

For what it's worth, when mine went out, I had it rebuilt by Apple. IIRC, it was comparable in price to a new one but I didn't have to worry about fitment/bore issues. I was advised to etch the VIN into it to make sure I got the same one back but I just took measurements and photos and I'm 99% sure I got the same one back. Grady

Correct John,
The Brake MC is indeed a TR7 MC. It is a bit tricky to bleed the system as the rear lines go up kinda high and depending on how your raise up the car you might have issues bleeding them right. Careful with your reservoir as they tend to crack from sitting against the top of the hood and they aren't easily replaced (well they're easily replaced by buying a complete new MC).
Hope you got my message about the firewall bushing bearing.
This is what I'm using: http://www.amazon.com/SBPFL204-12-Flanged-Mounted-...
If I ever need to replace it I'll probably see if one like this will fit (would need to makes ure there is enough room in the wheel well for it. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002BBQC4O/ref=sr_1_4?ie=...
Congrats on the new ride. I think there is a 280i tvrccna member up in your neck of the words if I remember right.
