My 4th wedge ...

Had a break from wedges for a couple of years with a Chim 400 paperbag and Griff 500. The Griff was very quick and great to drive but just didn't sound right and wasn't wedge shaped, so I sold it a couple of months ago.

After looking at various different other marques I decided to buy this 390se from a local tvrcc member who couldn't drive it anymore for medical reasons and decided to sell. It took a while to do the deal as it had no MOT at the time and had been parked up most of the year. Anyway full MOT on it now and it's back at home.

The car has been well maintained and had a carb conversion a couple of years ago. It will be interesting to see how it performs - first impressions were good.

Pinstripes and decals already on order biggrin

Nice car, best colour. Enjoy. What colour are you doing your decals and pinstripes? The reason I ask is because my Wedge is also bright red and I'm thinking of doing them in black.

Hi
I will be very interested on your comments regarding performance with the carb conversion
my 350i has a 3.9 nck motor rebuilt by v8 developments sports cam and as flowed heads done by rob Robertson it also runs on a holley carb which has been et up correctly which is essential for these to perform correctly.

IMHO it feels streets ahead in terms of power throughout the rev band also far quicker on throttle response easy starting rock solid tick over wherever you want it to, yes I do miss the pops and bangs .

If you use the power as far as I can tell consumption is around 14 mpg cruising on a light throttle keeping the secondaries closed it seems to use no more than when it was injected.

Showing my age now I spent twenty years on 1000 HP test beds for piston engined air craft using carbs, and fuel injected some with turbos some supercharged power outputs between the two make for some very interesting reading.
And if you want to see some low down torque a fourteen cylinder two staged supercharged radial engine takes a bit of beating.

Thanks for the welcome backs thumbup

@Tony, it was a toss up between black and grey. Opted for the grey to match the interior. PH member Viper is your man or his website racegraphics.net. Been very good quality and service in the past.

@mtb, the previous owner said he found more power with the carbs. I haven't really had the chance to find out yet, but there is an old school tuning place nearby which I will use soon. I was a bit worried initially as there is no choke, but had no problem starting from cold ... Just had to hold throttle at about 2k rpm for short time having started with foot fully down on accelerator.

I have got all the old injection system, plenum, ECU, fuel pump, pipes, cabling etc. Not sure what all that is worth together or separately?

Cheers.
