gear box oil?

What gear box oil do I need for my 1983 280i with a five speed box?

Assuming it is still on the ford box it should be a type9 as per sierra/2.8icapri/granada.

2.8 gearboxes -

If it's a 5 speeder it's a type 9, if it's a 4 speeder it's most likely a type B or 5 (3.0 Capri) and some later ones got a type E or 3. EP80 for 4 speeders and semi synth for type 9. Ford made a special red coloured oil for type 9 a long time ago.
