"Wedgefest or FestGrowl" 2015???
Discussion
Hi Peeps...Im asking on the Griff forum as regards to a combined event..We know this was talked about and we are all up for it..Unfortunately there has been a little confusion and rooms have been booked through a genuine misunderstanding..However rooms may still be available if you book SOON...They will not have the discounted rate though...Please give your PH username to whoever you speak to so that i can know how many to cater for.
The room scenario has put a little bit of a dampener on it but are we going to let that spoil a cracking weekend with some of Britains best driving weather????...Don't bother coming if you say yes.....
I will endeavor to save you the pounds extra that it will cost without the discounted rate on something at the event..Trust me...
So what do we say chaps.....Cheers...Ziga

Mark happy either way. I did really enjoy the Wedgefest last year. My concern with the combined event is whether some Wedge owners will give it a miss as a result. Also I'm aware that there are a few very strong personalities about. Friendly rivalry is fine but after a few beers that rivalry and banter could potentially cross the line? Personally happy either way and my room is already booked but in my full name not PH name.
I say WEDGEFEST........ What was the result when the idea was to join up last year, if I remember it was considered a no goer, what has changed since then.?
Of course all variants are welcome on the day as with past years. I honestly don't see the point in a combined event. Griffs, Chims, Tuscan, Cerb whatever the shape have always been welcome so what is the difference this year. I trust it is the same with all the other variants gatherings, the only adage is normally parking separate.

Hi Rob, being a cynic I think the key issue was the availability and a date / venue for the Griff group at Ettington once Mark had got in there and booked early to avoid disappointment for the BBWF! Hopefully there has been a genuine mistake in terms of the allocation of bookings but hopefully Mark will be able to "manage" the future allocation from now with the Hotel management to ensure that the Wedge fraternity can get equitable access to rooms given it was the WedgeFest originally. Should the rooms not be available then clearly this will have an effect on those of our group who travel a long way and would preclude them from the event which would be dissapointing. Lets hope Mark can sort it out and manage the allocations fairly to ensure a good weekend for all attending. Of course all variants are welcome on the day as with past years.

Thanks for your comments so far...As we know the room allocation for the BBWF 2015 was half compared to 2014..I had 70 rooms booked for 2014 but only 26 got filled...I say only but that doesn't mean it was disappointed..Far from it...I thoroughly enjoyed myself and the company of good people doing a good thing to help a bad situation was amazing.
There obviously are rooms available around the weekend of the 3rd-5th July 2015 but without the discounted rate..I have the remaining 15 reduced rate rooms held for those of you who have contacted me...So you need to book ASAP.
All this urgency has been brought about by the amount of weddings that are being booked at the chase and as i was aware when i was booking for 2014 that this would be the case for the next 5 years then i made sure the "Wedgefest" had a secure spot on their calendar/Dairy...Whether its held there or not is the option we have!..
Yes the room rates are a tad more expensive without the reduced rate but its a matter of £20-30...I haven't even got a room yet!..But whatever it costs you extra i will endeavour to save you at the event.. Cost is a major factor as well as time for people so when i was organising BBWF 2014 i managed to what i believe was save around £20 per head what you would normally spend at the event over the weekend and what you would take home with you..The shirt prices were realistic and the extra went directly to charity along with all the kind donations.
I managed to get a reduced rate for you at the Heritage motor museum to which i was looking forward to going to but didn't manage to as there were things to sort out after the pi55y morning put everything an hour out...The food was a good rate and cheaper than last year and was really delicious...The new chef proved his worth.
I know it is hard for people to commit to but if you think you might just want to come along and support it then book a room..Cheers...Ziga

That's the spirit! Pity there aren't more cheaper rooms available for all comers but then there are alternative places to stay nearby.
Thats correct Adam but those are rapidly running out as it really is going to be a big year for weddings in the Stratford upon avon area..So people will need to act quick to avoid disappointment , Unfortunately this part of the event is the attendees responsibility..I know some were leaving it right up to the last minute for 2014 but that can't happen next year..This is why i have had to sign the contract 4 months early...Even as the organiser i have no control over that part..So people NEED to get booking to get rooms..And PLEASE give your PH name as this helps me to establish all the food requirement for the Friday and Saturday....Cheers..Ziga hallsie said:
I may even have another TVR by then!!
Thanks mate...I look forward to seeing you in whatever..As long as its Classic..Or a TVR or both..Anything else will be put round the back and given the cardboard Wedge treatment as devised by previous BBWF characters....Recyclable material will be used of course but it is somewhat scratchier than normal...
Hi Peeps...I would appreciate people contacting me for more details, Especially Wedgers as you are my main concern..There won't be a "Who's coming" post as this is not practical to advertise the fact that you won't be at home for the weekend, Especially on a public forum!..So that will be done in confidence.
The issue with the rooms is a bit of a set back but its not going to spoil my weekend even if i have to book outside of the discount...Although if there are any shenanigans and people are booking to come to the event to disrupt it for everyone else then please remove your name and do not bother coming as you are un-welcome.
Next year there will be private security to deal with any unwanted guest..Who will be professionally and quietly escorted from the premises..(Especially any adults with child like minds)....
There will be NO special parking for private collections...
There will also be a cap on the noise level so please do not come if you car is over 150db....
Oh and the bar will only stay open as long as there is someone at it....The bar that is....However all nearby plant pots and small tables with be bolted to the floor..Although there will be a pair of bulk croppers on standby ....

Sounds like we aint welcome.. Though i can understand the hotel position, they make money from weddings, not us hairy TVR folk..
All booked for Saturday
Hi Wayne...Thats not the case fella, The chase really does love having us there but last year they were bought up by an American company who are predominantly interested in weddings and corporate events where they can make big bucks...All booked for Saturday
Last year i was allocated 70 rooms but for whatever reasons people couldn't make it and subsequently these were given back to the hotel...I was advised when i met the events manager on the Friday of the fest that the hotel will struggle to cater for us for the next couple of years at least due to the high volume of weddings being booked at Ettington...That is why i secured the date for next year ..(2015)..with them there and then.
Maybe the fest's day's are numbered at the chase but this doesn't mean the end of the event itself!..Not by a long shot.
We just need to be on the booking side of things a bit lively this year..We only were allocated 30 rooms in total which were 10 on the Friday night and 20 on the Saturday..So if 100 people wish to attend it next year and stay over they would of had to of booked without discounted rooms anyway, This is why I'm not letting anything spoil it.
If i have to then i will give up my reserved room for someone like Oliver Winterbottom and pay that little bit extra...Rooms are going to become unavailable even at non discounted rates.
So come on get booking..I can't say it enough!.....Cheers...Ziga
