Out with the old and in with the slightly less old
Discussion
A bit of progress on the 280i, after having a new fuel pump, fuel filter, accumulator, battery, spark plugs and now finally a slightly less rubbish bosch fuel injection unit the car is running
video
It's still not perfect but we're getting there!
Old at top, newer (but still pretty old) bottom

Hi mate..Have you had the metering head refurbed?....From the video it sounds a bit like there is a cylinder down...Can we have a recap on what you have done so far please..Mainly on the fuel side of things...I wish i was a bit closer to you as i'd love to pop over to help...Ziga
Fuel wise we've replaced the fuel pump, accumulator, filter, fuel lines, the bosch injection unit as per the pic and we're currently running off an exterior fuel "tank" to avoid sucking any sediment etc through the system.A couple of the injectors were blocked and 2 of the ht leads on the distributor had been put on in the wrong place (by the previous owner
) The cold start valve is dead to the world but another one is currently sat at the post office waiting for me to pick it up, hence sounding a bit rough there as I took the vid whilst we were still attempting to get a decent (/any) amount of temperature in the video. It did perk up once everything was a bit warmer it being 1c outside didn't help either! This video shows how she was running last week
and this is the video from yesterday again
definitely alot more healthy in the second video but perhaps revisiting the injectors is in order?

Yes definitely better in the second vid...Sounds like you are making good progress...It might be worth checking the injectors one by one..They are accessible without taking too much off..Firstly i would check the condition of the plugs to see if one is not burning and doesn't smell of fuel..If the spark is healthy across the set then it could be a blocked injector but thats only if any debris has got through the bulkhead filter and metering head filter..You might be able to get new BOSCH injectors although i remember imi saying that he couldn't get them anymore..I have an old set you can have if you wanted to get some refurbished.
Looking forward to your next instalment...Cheers...Ziga
All the plugs are fine and as I said 2 injectors were blocked, perhaps we didn't manage to flush them enough to get all the rubbish out? Either way I'll have a look at the other 4 injectors at the end of the week and see were we are.
Thanks for the offer, will let you know how we get on and go from there (although I should probably send your distributor back before I scrounge anything else off you lol)
