You can also get a reusable metal gauze filter for it instead of the paper ones that come with it.

Thanks John...I see that the one from RT looks like the inlet and outlet are too small?...I though the out from the swirl pot and inlet to the pump was around 12mm?...Cheers...Ziga

I forgotten to mention fitting an inline shut off valve on the inlet to filter.

Mark as you know I have fitted one of these pre filters to the Gredge for peace of mind to have something low pressure up stream of the pump. When I did the Gredge 500i conversion the swirl pot came out and found to have no means of filter hence the fitting. The layout should look like this:

Add a shut off valve though Ziggy, otherwise no point in having a serviceable pre filter, you'd have to drain off the tanks first plus its an added form of security if you wanted to use it regularly.

I have a sytech one fitted too - you can clamp the inlet pipe with a mole grip and a few bits of flat metal so it doesn't pinch too badly, then take the whole thing off to unscrew the lid, and clean the element, reassemble, and put it back. You have to do it this way because there's an inner washer you need to get in the right place.

Don't use the paper element use the gauze one, which is washable, and sell the paper one on the flea to subsidise it.
