Happy New Year All.laugh I've started to rebuild my V6i engine and come to a stop whilst fitting the camshaft,(Kent fast road)On fitting the spacer and end plate I have 2.2mm of end float.eekToo much? I'm not missing anything am I? My trusty Haynes Manual states 0.025-0.102mm. The spacer I have measures 4.11mm. Burton's can't help as they don't supply spacers or end plates. I bought the car/engine in kit form, the previous owner not rebuilding the engine after an overhaul. Any suggestions on a supplier or solutions please? Many thanks. J C.

Sorry , sorry Chaps problem sorted.laugh Shouldn't read to much into Mr Haynes.rolleyes Measurement from the rear of the timing wheel/block!! Not from the camshaft. One more problem solved. Next, what size is the bolt which secures the camshaft gear. My diagram shows a M10 X 28MM bolt. However the thread in the end of the camshaft looks a much finer thread, UNC? A M10 is reluctant to go in. Thanks again for any replies. J C

Given engine was designed in Germany/Europe, you won't find any unified threads....

Remember there are 'metric fine' threads too, I would guess it's one of those.

Thanks rck974x. I guess it could very well be a M10 fine thread. From a look down the end of the shaft it's a finer thread than normal M10. Would I be right in assuming that the crank pulley thread would also be a metric fine thread? Cheers J C.
