Iv'e had the bearing for a while so starting to think about getting the mod done to the bulk head bearing.

Couple of questions to get me prepared are: does the steering UJ (under the arch) split off the column without the the need to remove anything from the steering rack end, also other than the bolt heads, is there anything i need to access, consider or do on the internal side of the bulk head. The reason for the last question is i have limited space to open the door fully as i want to do it in the garage.

I have seen the threads on this which is one of the reason for doing it but not sure of these two points.

Thanks
Steve

When doing this it needed movement of the steering column in the car and for the new proper bearing to fit as well.
You could make use of the adjustment on the steering column, didn't try that myself as have plenty of access to do work on the wedge.
Conclusion: think it is difficult to complete the job without getting in the cabin and out again, vice versa, etc.

You can usually disconnect the upper column from the intermediate by slackening the clamp bolts on both UJs and tapping the intermediate column downwards.

Job done! another off the list, not road tested yet so don't know if it has made any improvement as the old plastic bush only seemed slightly worn but hey hey at least its done.
