Always in two minds. Today it don't look right but with a tweak here and there it is a winner. Well, would have been for the decade.

Has the look of a later A.C to me....was it the 3000 ME?

Fond of those, and i like the look of this one too......yep, one or two tweeks (rear windows need something) and its a winner for me......tho nice enough to take as is.

Needs the back end of the roof - dare i say it - rounding off a bit for me and that petrol filler cap looks like just a naff after thought.

Apparently the 420 Sports Saloon wasn't meant to look as severe as it did at the back and the Factory had a pretty good idea the car wasn't going to take off long before the motorshow. Subsequently they couldn't be bothered finishing it and it famously went to the motorshow with the passenger door missing.

When the car came back to the Factory the body was taken of the chassis, the nose removed to use on something else in the future and the rest of the body scrapped. The chassis and running gear would have been cannibalised and used for something else. When John Ravenscroft came to design the Elephant for PW they decided to graft on and adapt the 420 nose.

I always liked it and loved the direction they too with the speed 8.

Very experimental and never afraid to use the motor show as a guide by the number
of orders taken.

I agree that the Maserati is a beautiful design. I remember being at the motorshow and seeing the 420 in the flesh. Looking at it today I think it showed promise and indeed could of been refined into a 'classy' contender.

Both the Maserati Khamsin and the Indy were attractive wedges of the era. As were several other Maseratis of the time. However, these were Italian, and very expensive compared to the TVR wedge. Comparing like with like, our wedge was still the most attractive within the price range.
