Can anyone confirm the power steering rack on a 400 body wedge is Toyota supra if so what year model?
I want to replace all the hoses as they look like they are about to burst, mind you they've looked like that for quite some time.....
Any hints on the process??
Cheers
Adam

I believe the rack is Ford Cortina (late). Supra is the make of the rack. However there are modifications by TVR to the Ford rack.

Ahhhhhh that makes more sense......the sx is a little different again as far as the resivoir goes.
I think I'll get some pirtek hoses custom made is there a drain plug? Or a particular method I'll have a look at the cortina pics.
Cheers.

The 400SE should have the Supra/TVR one which is constructed from a alumium tube screwed into two castings one forms the valve block and the second secures the rack at the opposite side and holds the bearings etc.

Apparently the same body arrangement is used on aston martin, Mine was shot so it now has an SD1 cast body and valve block as I wasn't paying aston Tax which is even higher than TVR tax !

Apparently the cortina design is much better, when I asked Kiley Clinton how come the ford design is half the price to rebuild they replied "cos the TVR ones are st"

Is this a Supra rack? It has the same overall dimensions as a Griff/Chim rack. The ends are aluminium castings and the centre section is steel.

I want to sell it but am not sure quite what to advertise it as.

Thanks for the picture Superwedge. My rack has the same type of construction with its screwed on ali. ends but I can see now that it's clearly not a Supra.

So what car was it produced for I wonder?

Do you know what car it came off..i:e Chim...Griff...It might well be a Ford item but if you know what car it came off then you can normally tell by what was used on the front hub set up...Most of the Wedges had Cortina & Granada front end so the majority of the racks were Cortina mk4-5...I think the later "Supra" racks were modified to fit the same front ends...This could also be the case with yours...Ziga

This is definitely a TVR rack as all the castings have TVR part nos on them.
