before I get started - is this a simple job?

Handbook says 'Headlamp Bulb replacement requires expert fitment and adjustment. it is advaisable to contact your local dealer if this is required'?

I think the spec is straignt forward enopugh - 60/55W??

Yup, can't recall the exact bulb but sounds about right. Pop up headlight, disconnect battery, unscrew a few screws (preferably not the alignment screws), out it falls, hopefully not on the concrete replace bulb then reverse the above....

Might be worth quickly checking light alignment but no reason it should change much.

If oncoming cars flash you a lot, if you can't see where you're driving or a combination of the two, then something went wrong

cheers

""it is advaisable to contact your local dealer if this is required""

Doubt if they would know how to do the job....

I've done this a couple of times. It's a standard H4(IIRC) bulb as shown here...
www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/h4_bulbs.htm

I was thinking of replacing my candle power units with some Cibie ones. I've done this to my previous cars (Mini and X1/9) which used the same 7inch units. Light patern and dip cut off was much better due to better lens design. Demon Tweaks sell these and the mounting ring but this is an open backed mounting with rear adjustment. Anyone else researched this? Ideas where you can get the plastic mounting bowl to protect the unit from the elements and can you get front adjustment or can you get to the rear adjusters?
