Has anyone ever made a DVD or DVD's on the overhaul of different parts of the Wedge. What I would like to see is a comprehensive DVD showing how to repair each section of our Wedges. For instance :-

Rear brake overhaul
Front brake overhaul
Out rigger replacement
Lifting the body
Rear suspension overhaul
Front suspension overhaul
Clutch replacement
Radiator replacement
Etc etc etc

I think you get the picture. Such dvd's would be of interest to all Wedge owners everywhere, very interesting and educational. I know dvd's are available for overhauling cars, but seeing it actually performed on a Wedge would be very interesting and useful. I think a lot of Wedge owners would be willing to part with their money for such DVD's. If such a thing could be made, it would not necessarily be a profit making scheme, but one for Wedge enthusiasts to learn about maintaining their Wedge properly. Such a DVD I think would sell well in various Wedge meetings and festivals to cover costs, and save us all £££££'s. It could be done in stages. For example, if someone in the know is doing a rear brake overhaul in their garage we could send someone to film it etc. What are the views on such a scheme? Could it be done? Could it be made cost effective to produce?

Tony I have thought about recording a number of videos showing me working on various parts of the wedge but i have been unable to find a "beep" button that is reliable enough, nor someone with a strong enough finger to operate one, to beep out the swearing when:

a bolt rounds off
a bolt snaps off
my knuckles get skinned
I set myself on fire welding
I can't find that socket I need
The circlip pliers fall to bits
I hit my head under the car
Something goes in my eye
The wife shouts something from the house during a critical phase of disassembly/reassembly
etc... etc...

Mine would have to be R18. Nice idea though.

If you could video each stage, covering sections of what has to be removed in which order and how it all goes back, it would be a brilliant piece of information for others. If each person did the same on the major jobs carried out, we could then put them altogether to have a wealth of information for others when they do the job. I know it's easier said than done but what better information for Wedge owners now and in the future. Documenting in writing is good, but there is nothing like seing it in practice. I mean how can you explain the removal of a trick part in a certain way. If filming takes up a lot of your time while doing the job, each dvd could be sold on to compensate for your time. I mean, it's only fair I guess for people to charge for their time, otherwise no one will bother doing it. Together we can drive that high street mechanic out. What says you?

Hi Tony...I don't think its a matter of cost..And the time is one of them where most jobs on ours cars is not always as straight forward...I will have a go at doing a video but will be using my phone...Which isn't too bad.....

I don't think you need to do a continual recording but in stages as you progress. That way, you'll miss out the parts where breaks have to be taken or something not going quite as planned. Though some kind of commentating through the process would be good so as the people watching can keep up with what's going on in the video. It's worth a try anyway just to see what kind of result we'd have. If you succeed others may do different ones. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result if you can manage it.
