The combination of my Mum finding some photos, and me getting hold of a scanner, has allowed me to share some memories with you all.
Does anybody know what happened to the cars? Come to think of it, what happened to the skinny lads sat in them?

Although the number plate says 400SE, this next one is in fact a 430SE.

Great photos, nice to be transported back in time.
Look at those detailed SO2's
To get hold of a new one would be just
I mean the car that is, not the tyre

Bob Meier has the only 430 that I know of in this Country, his being m red, there is another one somewhere like Holland or Sweden I think and possibly there might be a third?

Just noticed - the white car has the very rare optional extra fitted to the boot.

But they're not SO2s they are RE71s. SO2s were much later and were generally not liked much; it's the SO2PP that are well liked.
You can also see the fashion for red plastic coating.

Work? When did that happen? I must have missed it.

I'm getting into this scanning lark now. I've fished out the brochures I picked up on the day of the motorshow. Look at the following. No prizes for guessing the real reason for the demise of the mighty wedge.

True - the Griffith was cheaper & quicker to build .. because the left out some of the important bits .. like door inpact bars

Excellent pictures, really nice to see brand new Wedges.

Does anyone have any other older Motorshow stand pictures?

You are spot on there 19560, its marked big enough on the sidewall! Still got RE71's on my 450, nearly max tread on the fronts, but nearly baldy on the rears.

But, where are these show cars now?

Does that then mean prospective buyers were faced with the dielema of, er, shall I buy without a cat, or spend a whopping extra £2000 for one with a cat and get a decrease in performance? (and the car will be quieter)

It is funny how things turn out.

When the 400's first came out I remember walking around the showroom of my old local TVR dealer and coming across the then brand new 400SE. I remember sitting in it and thinking wow what a car.

I picked up a load of promo leaflets of the Wedges including the red 450SE leaflet and thinking that it was my all time dream car.

Now what feels like a lifetime later, I was having a tidy up in my Mother's house the other day and in amoungst my old stuff I came across the very same 450SE TVR promo leaflet. I looked out of the window to see my 450SE sitting on the drive....

Just goes to show you gotta be careful of where your desires lead you....

Dicky,

Playboy at the time was not very good I think you will find late 80's/early 90's 'Rustler' mags much better!

I would scan a couple of these as well but would probably get arrested!

ps. If it ever stops raining I will pop around and give you a go in the beastie.
