Hi All
Does anyone know were I can get a steering bush for my 1983 280i FHC
Its the one that bolts to the bulk head.

Rimmer Bros do the original type rubbery plastic bush if you're so inclined, costs not a lot but guaranteed to wear out faster than Gary Glitter's welcome.
You can buy off-the-shelf self-aligning bearings which are a better bet, you may have to make/ buy a bush to match the bore of the bearing with the outside diameter of the steering column though.

I know a couple of other folk on here have done the same mod. (in fact I'm not the first to document it, there was a feature on TVRWedgePages but I think that's offline nowadays), they may be able to point you in the direction of the particular parts they used, I got mine from a local bearing supplier based on a sketch I had in my pocket at the time so I didn't get an invoice with part numbers etc... I think it was a 17mm bore bearing with integral rubber seals both sides and the column is 9/16" or 14mm, but it was a few years back.
