1984 280i Door Mirrors
Discussion
If you mean the flag type that droop and also flap back in the wind, I believe they are pretty much not possible to source new ones. There are a number of threads which discuss the option of alternatives from varies vehicles, but appears the only original ones available will be those being sold as owners upgrade to alternatives or the series two fibre glass pods which can be sourced from TET. Its a matter of keeping it original or changing to an alternative depending on your taste.
Hi Jon...I always thought the door mounted flag type mirrors were an early ford item..Cortina..mk1 capri...There are a few that would be suitable and should be the same fitment as per original...

Vitaloni makes several flag type mirrors that could be reasonable substitutes. Some 70s and 80s Italian cars used mirrors of this general style, from Fiat 124 to Alfas, on to the more exotic (expensive) alternatives.
You could consider the Vitaloni Tornado. We went with one that is a general purpose Vitaloni mirror, I unfortunately no longer have the source or model for these. They were reversible, you just unscrew the base and reverse it. I have some photos, it came in white; we painted it body colour leaving the base black, we considered painting it completely black.

Overall it looks appropriate for the car...

Being an earlier Tasmin the flags look best, I wouldn't personally like the more faired in versions on the early car, if your wedge is a bigger badder wedge the faired ones may work nicely if you aren't worried about keeping the appearance age appropriate. (edit: looking at this thread's subject yours is an 84 280i - so my preference would be stay clear of the faired in version, but to each their own).
I would tend to check eBay, there are tons of options, this one appears reasonable:

Be careful of one thing, some cars seem to have the mirrors screwed in from the horizontal surface of the door, and some from the vertical; I did try one mirror that looked reasonable, but it didn't have the movement in its base that allowed it to sit on the right angle when installed.
Good luck!

Just found the names of the ones we used, they are "Vitaloni Pronto". They seem to be available in white, red and black.
"Vitaloni"...Thanks mate that was one i was trying to remember..I remembered they were Italian as i used that make on Delilah although they were the sport mirror rather than the flag...Cheers...ZigaI think this would be one of those items that was not sourced from another vehicle - it was sourced from a company that makes mirrors. Also, they had different ones of the flag types depending if they were non power or power.
I do believe a small percentage of the Tickford Turbo Capri cars had the identical mirrors, but good luck there, they are not as 'common' as a Tasmin.
