Brake pedal adjustment / master cylinder clearance

Good afternoon Gents,
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as usual.
Am about to change the brake master cylinder after my brown trouser moment recently and recall somewhere someone has mentioned to adjust the pushrod clearance to improve the feel of the brakes.
Has anyone done this and could confirm how to access and what adjustment to make ?
I assume the risk is not leaving enough clearnce and the brakes binding on !
