ABFM Vancouver - a great weekend
Discussion
Just back from the 2015 All British Field Meet in Vancouver and the Vancouver-Whistler All British Run too. 500+ cars in the VanDusen Gardens for Saturday and over 100 in the Olympic Plaza in Whistler on Sunday. 1000+ km through the Rockies, Calgary to Vancouver, and then the same for the return trip. 280i was flawless for the six day trip. A wedge cockpit is a great way to view the mountains.
And one more pic, this from the VanDusen show. The cars there, and I'm quoting our USA NW TVRCCNA rep's email, was:
Just wanted to send a note out about this last weekend's Vancouver ABFM. There were EIGHTEEN TVR's in attendance! That's a spectacular turnout and, as the the organizers mentioned at the awards ceremony, that represented a pretty healthy percentage for a marque made in such limited volume.
If my memory is right there were:
2 Grantura's in lovely unrestored condition
1 Vixen (gorgeous restoration to original)
1 Vixen very high quality vintage racer
1 Vixen work of art with very clean SBC installation
1 Tuscan V8, the real thing
1 Vixen made from a 2500M with grafted Vixen front and round tailight rear
7 2500M's ranging from in process restoration, to unbelievable work of art
1 Taimar (Beautiful example)
1 280i
2 290S, both pristine
14 Canadian cars, 4 US cars
end quote.
The photo is from Gregg's email.
Cheers!

Think there are three of us. I haven't had mine long; this is the second summer of driving it. It's first formal outing last year in Stanley Park (our Stanley Park...) alerted me to the third one which was for sale on Kijiji and was located just north of town. Yours I had heard about and read your thread elsewhere here. Didn't know if you still had it or were still in town as the trail was a little cold. Also heard about you popping out there. What a great drive. Only had to have the hood up through scattered rain all the way to Vernon, and on the return just from Larson Hill on the Coq to Kamloops.

I'm thinking yours is the one I saw at Todd Cathcart's shop before you bought it. This was about 5 years ago. Red 280i, left hand drive yes?
Speaking of local TVR owners, I had the misfortune of phoning Wayne Lepard out in Langdon. Ended up speaking to his widow.
He's passed on but apparently the 3 Tiv's live on, a couple of Taimar's and a 2500M. In her possession... smart girl.
There's a LHD Brit racing green LHD Griff 500 here to altho I've no clue who is the owner.

Possibly. That third wedge is also red, lhd, but has the earlier black mirrors.
Yes, had seen Wayne's name on the 'net but he was gone before I bought mine. I have not run into any of the girls though. Bumped into Eldon at the Stanley Park show last summer but his car is (was?) for sale somewhere on the 'net that I saw; think it was a 2500M but I cannot accurately recall.
I tried sending you an email but it didn't work. 403-268-5508 is the office. Drop me a line.

Not quite Zig. That's the top of Roger's Pass on the Trans Canada. The Rockies start 40 miles west of us and the mountains are all the way to the coast. It's literally 1,000 km from here to Vancouver with lots of these types of views on the way. We get a gorgeous view every morning of the eastern face of the Rockies from here in Calgary though. I'll post up a few more pics of the trip over the next few days. Crystal was having fun with the cameras and we had Kodachrome blue skies all day for the second half of the trip home. Our first road trip together so she found out what driving a TVR wedge in North America is all about. It's pretty much the one of a few scripts with lines like "What the hell is that?", "But, who makes it?", "So it's a Triumph?", etc. Everyone is always intrigued and politely interested but can't put a TVR into the right slot at first. Now, the kids know what a TVR is. Woohoo! video games.
It all sounds fantastic...The Wedge sure is a curiosity ..Today i was called a Lamborghini by a young child...A TR6 by a couple of young builders and a racing car by an elderly gentleman..Who really should of known WTF it was...Ive had Delilah called..A TR7...A GTR???...A Ferrari...A Triumph roadster..A Lotus...And a F.P.O.S by me a few times...Isn't it great though....
