After finding the rear number plate was stuck on the old one i was a little curious, underneath was a different reg. dug out the old MOT's and found that this was the original. The private plate it had in Cheshire must of been stuck on top of that too. 1990 350SE no24 didn't hit 20000 miles until 2006. the car has had an MOT for all if its life. Worked hard between 06-10 clocking up 31552 miles(yes i got the calculater out). Now on 57000ish.Anybody as sad as me and done the same?

Not just me but the two previous owners of my car kept fastidious records of every penny spent, going back to when the car was 6 years old in 1993. So I have two box files and an A4 ring binder full of notes, invoices, receipts etc. detailing what was done and spent and at what mileage.
I think this year I have just broken the £4000 mark for my own spending (since I got the car in 2000). That doesn't include countless hours of my own efforts, of course.

The car cost someone £23000 when new, I have receipts for about £22000...

I have a sheaf of MOT's on mine (along with receipts). THe MOT's are interesting from when a car collector owned it - each one a year later and between 40 and 50 miles extra on the clock!

Maybe we should have a topic on the history of our cars

Its okay if you have some traceable history...Mine was service by Tower view racing for a while...There was a invoice for 2.5K mentioning "Engine work"...I wish they would be more explanatory...Cam?..Timing chain?..Valves guides?..Gaskets?....All four?...All i know is my engine pulls like a train ..Pushes out 180bhp and 220ftlb of torque which aint bad for a 28 year old classic "Hand Built British sports car"..No rattling or tapping..Well a minute amount which can only be heard if you stick your ear on the plenum or rocker covers..In total there was £13,500 spent on mine in 6 years..One fault which was highlighted a fair amount of times was a "Mis-fire"..They couldn't find it so went through all the usual suspects including the ECU..I found it...
(The broken and twisted CTS wires)...

I have spent 3K in two years...She is pushing + 80,000 miles now but i think i have a good'un...Which is a result as anything less and i wouldn't be able to afford it...There is of course still a very long "To do list"...biggrin

I am fortunate being the second owner and buying when it was due its first MOT.
Nearly 28yrs later I have kept every receipt, MOT and bill for everything. Makes interesting reading!.
I haven't added up the total spent, but actually I'm sue it's not that much, as the old girl has been very reliable, and a tribute to TVR's early V8 Wedges.
