Hopefully this is technically correct.

A root cause of leaks from the sump of a V8 is that the sump bolts and the cross-bolts meet. Oil then comes down the threads of the sump bolts. Gaskets are fine.

Presumably that only applies if your block has a cross-bolted bottom end?

Hi Henry

The Gredge 500 is cross bolted and had similar issues key thing is not to over tighten or as I did do away with the gasket and use a good gasket sealant. Let it go off for 24 hrs and not another drop!

Just a thought as you are using a bespoke external oil pump at higher pressures it maybe the root cause?? Make sure all the breathers and pressure release etc are clear and working...

Hi Chris,

Yes, I agree. On the other hand, the leaks were there before the external oil pump was added.

The oil pump wouldn't make any difference as the sump is just the reservoir.

These leak quite often but if you use the product above and apply it to super clean surfaces you will be sorted.

On the chim and griff, the two front bolts go ithrough nto the timing case and therefor need to be sealed.
