Bonnet (nose) badge
Discussion
Morning all
My nose badge is decidedly shabby as all the plating is peeling off.
1 Are these available anywhere (bay of E has chim ones are they the same?) or is it a replate ?
2 I guess they're just bolted on but the only access would be through the rad opening but I cant see how the mesh is attached so how do I get to the nuts ?
Thanks all
Ron

Ron, if you get the badge off you could rub it down with fine wet and dry and remove all the old plating, if its like most then you will find it is brass underneath and you can polish it up as i did, also did the boot badge. My nose badge is decidedly shabby as all the plating is peeling off.

Hi Ron..Spray the nuts a good week before you attempt to take them off..I was getting them refurbished for people a while back...Had mine done...Real gold
I also had one done for Chris...And a friends Cerbera rear badge.
From this...

I had my bonnet and boot ones done.
Some people say rub it down as its gold underneath...This is actually the nickel coating that is needed before the chroming process...I have to do a bit in-between as the lines have to be blacked in so that the chrome doesn't stick to the nickel and then re-done once the chroming is done...
The cost is £25 per badge and thats with me doing the in-betweenie bits for FREE...So a cuppa would be in order at a meet mate...Or a mate meet...
You can buy them off the shelf at anything from £40-60 but i doubt if they even come with the "Special TVR gasket" that i fit....

Thanks chaps
Will get the wd40 on it today and try to get it off without shearing anything during the week. Zig will let you know about getting it plated once its off in one piece (hopefully
)
If need be i have a couple of spares but like to keep at least one with the correct length of thread still on it...Although mine would come off easily if i needed to do whatever...If the nuts are really tight then don't force them..Just use some more lube matron....Will get the wd40 on it today and try to get it off without shearing anything during the week.
