Hi,What do you think is the best rear brake pads to use on a 350i,are Ferodo FDB 822 the correct one's or are these hard one's for the track,as I perfer soft one's that will bed in nicely for road use.One disc was quite rusty looking on one side, but the cylinder isn't seized,so cleaned it up and removed old pads, which look a bit glazed,so I wondered if these might have been hards one's.

I have mintex now (1144 I think), and they are ok for me. Main problem with the rear brakes is cooling. Planning to put some airducts on (Tower View?), as the smoke coming from the back is now my only problem at track days. As at the front (not standard: 300mm-4pot with EBC green pads) they can go on for ever. When the pads need changing, will go for Mintex as well.

Tried DS2000's, but on track days the rears got a bit fried, so went to DS3000's all round. Fantastic stopping power, even cool, but downside is they chew discs due to the high coeficient of friction and squeal like hell. Now looking at DS 2500 all round as they've only just come out for the Princess (front)caliper. The problems with the rears are overheating on track days, and the relatively low (25% I think) proportion of total braking done by the rears. The pads can stick in the caliper after a lot of use due to dirt, used friction material etc. so that the piston does not move the pad into full contact with the disc. Regular cleaning and smearing the edges of the pad backing plate with Copaslip helps overcome this.
