Hi Peeps...Well its been an age and i have been cracking on with the self educating trimming...I have decided to re-trim Poppy in oxblood red with black and anthracite insets...I was going to re-venner the handles but they came out cack due to the uneven side edges so i used a Twix instead...Good for a snack as well....No its a bit of snake skin, I did want crocodile but i only had enough for half an handle...I can always change it later if i want.

Its not everyones cuppa tea and its not perfect but i like it...Im going to see what it looks like tomorrow...Then its seats and spare dash....
Not sure what colour to do the door vent...Maybe black?

The black divider needs re-glueing as its well fiddly and my fingers have cuts all over them so I'm leaving it for another day...
Cheers

Thanks Tony...Hopefully it can only get better....Not bad for a third attempt....I have to be careful as it becomes expensive when you are learning because most of it get thrown in the bin...smile

I'm surprised snakeskin wasn't a factory option, Wedges are hardly understated cars smile
Looking good Mark, well worth the effort.

I shouldn't imagine the grass snakes were big enough...hehe

I would of liked to of done it in leather though...Hopefully it will last and i can save up and do it again, ..

I put a fine mesh on the backside of the panel with some air filter foam on it..I cleaned up the grille/Door vent ..Repaired it and fitted a quilted cover on the grille..The reason for quilting was to make sure there was enough air flowing through the vent...Just waiting for the glue needed for the edges and then i can crack on with the driverside...
I have put some foam on the front of the door strip but i need the other glue as the spray stuff is no good for anything stretched...Easy job though...

Mark, those door panels are looking very grand and Royalty like. You wouldn't even get such workmanship in a Lambo. Keep up the good work. I know it's hard work and a lot of sweat and tears but I can't wait to see the finished result.

Like you, I too am experimenting with something new, that could be used on our Wedges. I am still a long way off from perfection. It's called'hydrographic printing'. It's basically transfering patterns onto items such as dash boards, trims and even wheels. Grapics paper and developer is not cheap and I've wasted a lot already, but I feel I'll get there eventually. I'll post up some pictures when I have success worth showing. In the meantime, try, try and try.

You could always use any seconds to make a pair of driving gloves - and a snakeskin codpiece.

Good job though.

Wow Mark, that's really nice work. Looks like fancy luggage. (OK, the vent looks a bit like one of my bride's fancy bags but she and Poppy may have similar taste. smile ) Grady

Thanks Grady..You need good luggage lugging me about...smile
Well i fitted the door card back on but you can still see the lines that were caused by the material by being folded when i bought it..And the two lines from the door handle opening are bugging me and a piece that wasn't stuck properly has got pushed back out a tad..Just above the front side of the arm rest....I have now realised that i put a outer stitched on when it didn't need it..Doh!!!...Looks okay but I'm a fussy git and will probably do it again....Thing is do i match it with the O/S or redo the N/S??...

That looks awesome. Well done Mark. When you do a job yourself, you can always see imperfections because you know where to look. To me that looks good in the photos and probably just as good close up as I'm looking at the whole thing. Very impressive. You may be able to heat treat the creases out on the next one before you start fitting. Nice job.

Thanks Tony...Yeah i tried that ..Those are the kind of things i have been learning..I can look beyond that as it might flatten over time but the handle area bugs me..I might just do the other side how its meant to be done..I have still got the rest of the interior to do...Do i have the only Wedge to be re-trimmed while being used...When the door card is missing the door rattle like a good'un..The driver side won't shut properly without it...Cheers...Ziga

Good evening peeps...Well did a bit more..Still not 100% but its a steep learning curve...The plan was to re-cover the tranny tunnel cover and centre console but i messed up the first attempt so now don't have enough to do the centre console...Still there is the dash and side trim to do yet...I think i will leave the carpet until the spring.

This was a second attempt at a gear gaiter and i think i can just about pass...I shouldn't of stapled the handbrake gaiter yet though...rolleyes

Under dash parts..

Tranny cover...

I know that "Quilting" is not everyones cups but i like it...

Also found this under the dash...Looks like the matrix has leaked...I didn't clean it just incase it did...smile

The ACME radio must be thinking WTF is going on...Little does it know its days are numbered...
