I just received a replacement for the leaking Fram. In addition to missing the copper washers, it has a solid clunk when you turn it end to end. Sounds like the innards are solid (in one piece) but loose in the case.

I'm guessing that's not normal and it should go back but wanted to check. Thanks Grady

Hopefully this is the cause of your non-starting..You have to make sure the filter is for a 2.8 INJECTION...I always use to use MANN filters...Never had a problem...

I has a Bosch for years (replaced what was there) and one of the Wedge part lists list Fram which was easy to get. Mann's are available here so I'll try that next.

I'll send the Bosch back for clunking and try a Mann (Hmm, that doesn't sound right...).

My new manly Mann filter doesn't leak (I think) but it's a lot smaller in diameter. I'm going to have to reinvent a bracket. Since the cars not running, I've wire tied it up temporarily. Grady
