Has anyone got a power steering rack for a 350i? It's a c plate. I've got it off and put it in for a refurb but they want £350 if they can split it? Has hasn't got any marks on it, like ford??

I've recently had my pas rack reurbed by Kiley Clinton in Brum. See thread
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Mine is a Ford based rack, and when I originally phoned them they did say that if it was not a Ford rack, it would probably be an alloy cased version, and would be £295 (plus vat I think) to refurb. Might be worth talking to them, as I'm not sure that you'll find another rack like yours easily, and even if you do, it could be as bad or worse than yours anyway.

Hi,

almost certainly a "Ford" rack on a wedge of that age...

As Number 7 says, the alloy racks are a PITA to refurbish so KC charge a fortune, quoted me £295 + VAT, which dropped to £125 + VAT when they saw the rack...

If you're still unsure, post up some pictures of the business end of the rack and someone on here will identify it. IIRC there is a small "ford" oval on one or more of the castings.

Remember KC also give a 2 year warranty.

Regards,

Brian
