If I'm correct I think the Euro spec series 1 and 1.5 came with Ford Capri Mk 3 rear taillights but they weren't dot legal so they never came to the states. Instead I think we got Aston Lagonda lights. I would like to see if If the Ford Capri lights will fit in my opening and if so will order a set from England. Can I get someone with this lights to take a across measurement from the top of the lens one from the bottom and the get the total height please. Just think it will give a much cleaner look and also give me some lights that are a bit more visible. Thanks.

Hi mate...I think the later 280's had upside down Rover SD1 rear lights which were also used on the early Lotus Esprit...The Ford units are rectangular and don't have the pointy end...I should image they fit as i can't see TVR changing a rear end to suit the lights...smile

I think your right about the later ones Zig but I've seen some early ones with what looks like the Capri lights. Of course they are a bit more common so if anyone has 'em on I would love measurements to see if they will fit in the recess.

Thanks guys. I thought they used the capri lights across the pond early on and would suspect my rear mold will accept 'em but wanted the measurements to see first. Now I just need to see if I can make 'em fit and then find me a reasonably priced set to get.

Thank for sharing with everyone else zig smile JK I was actually already watching it now off to measure. Problem is most won't ship stateside or they want an arm and a leg to ship stateside.

So which way do they go on. Big part up top or on the bottom? They look like they will fit although the 130mm might be an issue with the way the raised ridged area is on the stateside cars.

Hi,
Big part to top. On the pic i posted it is upside down so it would stand for the shot. So the one in the pic would be your drivers side, but the other way round.
If you win the auction you can post to me and i'll forward it on if you like.

Would love a close up of one side so I can see how it fits in the recess. Much cleaner look in my opinion.

Thanks Adam but that looks a bit more difficult to make work on mine plus I like the ford idea as it makes replacing should I break one easier in the future. Just sent my paypal on a real nice looking set. $65 shipped isn't bad

Yup, just what i wanted, to see the "lip" behind there and how the light doesn't quite fit over it.
