Hi Peeps...Just a bit of fun really but I'm wondering if there was a car that you were considering buying before you bought your Wedge?...

I very nearly bought a bit of Wales...First i was looking at the Gilbert invader but then i saw this and fell in love with it..Very Mad Max..I know its hideous to some but my plan was to fit a 5.7ltr, Spray it candy apple red and have an exhaust system that sounded like a thousand lions roaring at once...

You'll have to excuse the pics as they were scanned from the ad..

HENSON M30
Based on a Granada chassis with a 3.0ltr Essex engine..Probably slower than Delilah was when she was running on only 5 cylinders.

I think looking at it again i would of had a round headlight conversion and sorted out the indicators and rear light, Probably would of had round rear lights as well..And as for that rear window...Well i think i would of just put a screaming skull there and fitted a rear parking camera...Oh well at least it was Wedge shaped...And it had the same door handles...hehe

Still I'm kind of glad i didn't as there were only a few made so their forum would be like ...Well

Now own a Wedge with no regrets...biggrin

Hi
Like you zig I was looking at kit cars, I wanted something fun, kind of classic, but didn't want to spend massive amounts of time and money trying to keep the tin worm at bay. It was actually my wife who spotted my first wedge on the bay and the rest is history
I have flirted with the idea of getting something more "modern" but I know that ill regret it sooner rather than later.
A lust for more power has set in recently just need some funds to satisfy it either with a bigger wedge or a bigger engine in mine but definitely not getting out of wedges yet....i guess I'm hooked

Like that Gilbern Mark, especially the Carlos Fandango wide wheels. Very '70s.

A long time ago in a galaxy far......

Sorry, I mean way back in '88, what I wanted was one of these:

So I managed to persuade Mrs. Number 7 to drive out to a dealer one weekend to look at one, despite her not liking Capris, as she had been hit by one as a kid. Anyway, this dealer also happened to by a TVR main agent, and although I'd heard of the marque, they weren't really on my radar. Needless to say, the Capri did not get a look-in once Mrs. Number 7 saw a white A plate 280i sitting on the forecourt. Our first TVR.

In the event of an enormous windfall coming my way, I'll have this:

Mine was more a case of what I did have which was a Marlin Berlinetta that I bought to fit a Toyota 1UZFEV8 (Lexus LS400 engine) into. I had made a start on the conversion when the guy I bought the car off rang me and asked if he could buy it back for more that I had paid him for it. So then I bought another wedge having owned one a few years back. Can't beat the sound.

If my lottery numbers come up then it will be a Cerebra V8, but keep the wedge.

When I first read Number 7's post I though blimey he is on his 7th wife then realised it was Number 7's misses.

Zig, Essex was better than you think for standing start, because it developed quite a lot of low down torque for its size.
Hi mate...I wasn't slating the actual engine more of the fact that the weight of the chassis and body on the Henson would make it feel like a snail on valium ...A 3.0ltr Essex in a Wedge is a different story...

I see that the thread has drifted to "Dream cars"...Blimey where do i begin...Pantera's are definitely up there...But id also have

One of these...

One of these...

Definitely one of these....

A sexy DB3 S

And maybe one of these....

As a track toy....
Oh well just checked my Euromillions ticket...Looks like I'm keeping the Wedge....smile

Loving your choice there Zig.. I think thats quite a looker !! however, that pic for some reason reminds me of Dr. Theopolis from Buck Rogers..... getmecoat

TVR for me was always on my dream car list since a young age - living in Kirkham (between Blackpool and Preston) as a kid - used to see lots zooming round and sounding great..

If it wasnt a Wedge... where do i start..

It could have been..

Would still happily buy any of these if given the chance...

If my numbers came up though.. this would be my purchase...

Or I would sctrach build my own car... design to be something like..

When I bought my 350i in 1989, the choice was the TVR or a Lotus Esprit turbo. As I had previously owned a Europa, the Esprit was the logical choice? Then the TVR was thrown in to consider. A reliable V8 easier to access, and convertible, and the noise, and a TVR!

The first dealer to do a part-ex deal on my 1987 MR2 was where I would be buying from. So it was Tony at Harrogate Horseless Carriages that struck a deal over the phone so I drove up and got the 350i which I still have. Lotus in Norwich were too slow so Esprit lost out. (Or did I?)

I've often wondered what would've been different if I had bought the Esprit. Maybe an itch I still need to scratch.

I was actually looking to purchase a Griffith 500 last year.. but once I saw the SEAC for sale at TvR, I knew I had to have another Wedge..& the Griff idea immediately faded!

Other than the Griff I also contemplated a Noble M12.

Being realistic and presuming we are talking similar values; i think i would return to something my old Westfield. I miss it in a way wish i had space for both. Everybody should own one of these at some time in their life - great fun.

I had a Westfield as well! Often wonder where it is now, it has changed to blue and still MoT'd according to the new MoT website.

I was considering jerk pork.

seriously.

I decided to have jerk pork for lunch and across the street was TVR, and right out front were two Tasmins, and the sign had the price in big letters, just barely within reach, but not in budget - so of course I bought it. Wasn't looking for another car, but I found it.

Here it is the day before I bought it, my son Malcolm posing...
