Hi All

Anyone know anything about VW Caddy/Seat Inca Clutches and Gearboxes?

I've got a 52 plate Inca that I use for dragging my fishing and bike stuff around. Only does a couple of miles a week. I went out in it Friday evening and the clutch pedal hit the floor. I pulled it back up by hand and then the pedal locked solid. Got it towed back home and had a look at it.

I removed the slave cylinder at the box end and that freed the pedal. So I'm assuming the cylinder is toast for starters. I removed the box inspection panel behind the front near side wheel and found that the release bearing lever had a crack in it, so I've welded that up ready to go black in.

My question is should I be able to push on the release bearing to check it's working? As it seems to be fully in all the way. Never actually changed a FWD clutch before so any advice would be appreciated. I was planning on replacing the cylinder and bleeding it to try before breaking the box from the engine.

I'm in a bit of a panic to get this sorted as my beloved 350i is currently residing in a friends garage to make room for the repairs to the van at home :-(

Thanks KY

No experience with this type, but I would be very surprised if you could push in a release bearing without applying considerable force. Unless it's broken, of course.

My A3 would do this some times if not used for a while, but once pulled back up and used for it bit, it was fine.
I doubt it will be the clutch just the master or slave, so no need to take the box apart.

Thanks guys.

Been advised that it's probably the push rod gone through the clutch so box out for a look me thinks. As its done 113k it's probably close if not due a clutch anyway.

Cheers Karl.
