Hi lads not sure what suffix box i have in now but 3rd and 4th syncros are worn so im looking at buying a box and reconning it. I have the chance of 2 boxes one with a c suffix and one with a d suffix. Any idea if this will be suitable for a 1983 350i? I've heard before that some suffix's wont suit as the innards are too soft for the tourque etc etc, so the last thing i want is having to take it back out 12 months after ive fitted it. Any help appreciated

Dix.

The rule is to get the latest one possible, C isn't that late and D a little better, E or F are what you should hold out for if possible. It depends how long you can wait....

I have been looking at R380 boxes as an alternative, they are stronger and only require a little engineering to make them work.

The ones to look for are the Sherpa van ones, as they have the correct output shaft and flange.
