Gas Struts

So the car came back from the paint shop today and the boot lid and bonnet have been off for the last 3 months.

All four gas struts has now have no pressure, that said they are 5 years old, do they normally fail if left extended for that period?

No, as they are normally stored extended before sale.

Funny I just bought one for £6 (new, special offer) for the jeep tailgate and these are bd strong, 300+N.

When it arrived there were two in the packet! So I'll sell the other one I reckon. Probably for a tenner.
