Have a lower temperature rating thermostat, 82 degrees Celcius I think.
Hope others can confirm that this should be standard fitment for a standard RV8 wedge and not 88C.

Yeah 88 degrees but beware the lack of thermostat usually means a bodge-up hiding some fault with the cooling system, failed head gasket, etc.

So after fitting it, check it well. Best to drive it to get up to temperature then park up and let it idle for 10 minues, the needle should get up to the red then be pulled back to 90C when the fans kick in (you can leave the bonnet open).

Then turn off the engine and listen for any hissing noises. make sure the system stays pressurised for a good 10 minutes.

If you can Mike get a thermostat with the trickle pass hole in it, the have a we plastic plunger in it to cover the hole, it makes refilling the system with coolent much easer

82 degree stat would be normal in a 3.5. Wahl is a good brand. Comes with a jiggle pin, which should be a the top.

I vote 82DegC. My temp gauges do an occasional dance into the red with an 88DegC one. I know the SD1 Vitesse had an 88 Deg one but that car also had a viscous fan running all the time.
