How many wedges are still on the road?

So we know that there were 2600+ built from 79 to 91.
And we know that approximately 100 went to BBW2004.
But the question is how many are left on the road?
Between the people at BBW and members of this forum and everybody who maybe knows of other cars could we get a register going including year and model type?

When I got my first wedge in '95/6, I spoke to someone who reckoned that at that point there were more than 70% of all wedges still on the road.
Judging by the number of write-offs seen in recent times, plus the cars that went for the Tasmin challenge and other racing, and not forgetting that a fair few went overseas anyway, I'd say easily less than 50% still remain, and how many of those may be roadworthy (ignoring tax etc.), and then how many actually come out to play....

Whatever the number we will be +1 Series 1 FHC on the roads soon.
I do wonder though how many like mine there are left. there are 3 on PH that i know of, chassis #10, 33 and 56(?) plus there was a white one for sale in my village last year. In the ad in the window it said something like just 16 cars were left of the first FHC Tasmins...whether this true or not i dont know.

Iain, Count me in on the S1 FHC counter chassis number 51 is alive and well(ish) and living in Staffordshire (same owner last 11 years).

You must be fairly local to me then, i'm half way between stafford and uttoxeter. Not using the wedges at the mo, got a 100 mile round trip to work every day and i'm not made of money!! whereabouts in cheshire are you Iain?

I dont know if it will be possible to get a totally accurate count of how many wedges are still on the road. I began a "Wedge Registry" here in the states back in 1992 and continue to add to it whenever any new information comes along. I keep track by VIN#, with information on current(and former) owners, where available, colors, and any other notes that are available to me, such as modifications, etc. But I have dozens of photos of wedges for which I have no identification and know of many wedges out there that I have no VIN# verified for.
Such a registry is only as good as the information supplied and is always subject to constant updating as cars change hands, new cars are added, etc. If any of you would be interested in providing your information to me on your wedges along with photos, I would be happy to include them in the listing. I hope one day to get all of this on a website, like Jens Ratsey-Woodroofe used to maintain some years ago.

About 10 miles south of Chester in the north east corner of where the A41 and A534 meet. Can see Beeston castle from my house if that helps?
Will have to meet for a blast over the summer, once #33 is back on the road.

Pretty close to Oulton Park then, i grew up in Knutsford so know the area pretty well. I'm up for a blast in the summer and if i get myself motivated i might have a spare wedge you could borrow if 33 is still off the road.

The plan is to go to BBWF in #33, and yes Oulton is about 15/20mins, i commute past it (A49/A54) everyday on my way to work, for the next 3 weeks or so as im currently working my notice.

Never been to a wedge fest although i reckon my 350FHC could win a prize as the scruffiest wedge on the road !! i might go to a meet in it sometime and make some heads turn !!

This year is only the 2nd BBWF event. Bring yourself and car along, it's a Wedge shape TVR and will be welcomed and admired in equal measure to all the other cars there.
We got the number of TVR's from the DVLC
it lists 192 Tasmins
52 400se's
14 450 se's
these are the cars registered with the DVLC in the UK at Sept 2004. there are also 1346 registered TVR's against "no model" If you want a copy of the spreadsheet give me a e/mail.
ps just for fun here I am a few moons ago ina brand spanking new 390SE
says 350se but it was the limited edition number 6 from memory!!
