Well my fixing of the throttle cable last night certainly made a difference to the driving experience.

It must have been getting slacker over time - now it's maybe a little too responsive - have to be careful pressing it down... especially coming out of corners.... eeek....

Good fix :-)

Quick question.....my throttle cable feels a little too snug in the housing for my liking ........anything special about the wedge throttle cable when I hunt to buy a replacement?

Just keep ALL the bits...Especially the outer with the crimped on thread adjuster ...Don loose the large nut...Small nuts and washers...It unimportant as regards to the pedal end as a good quality terminal block is better.

You can just sent the inner off to be made...Getting the right length and throttle end fittings is the key.....

The throttle cable comes through that little metal grommet and the cable doesn't need the nipple....(ooo missus) ....Just a terminal block...

Sounds totally stupid doesn't it ? Not getting full power because throttle cable stretched....

Actually it's more common than you think - It's always worth checking you are getting the full rotation/opening - I've seen carb throttles not opening fully several times because cable set too slack.....

Also at a pinch for a get-me-home emergency, most car throttle cables can be fixed up with bicycle brake cable and a couple of solderless nipples (oeer missus), available for pence at a bike shop.

In fact the AA clutch cable repair I got in the wedge was only a glorified version of the same fix, just bigger cable and nipples ...

worth having that kind of stuff around in your tool kit..

I have always used a 2 screw choc block. Slide the cable into the pedal slot squeeze together and fit the bare end of the cable into the block ensuring the cable is gripped by both screws and is tight to reflect your own pedal feel - job done!
