Can anyone read that chassis number? I need it for my records hahaha

Someone should save it as it fairly early...I can't quite read the body code but it looks like FER which i believe is red?....I don't like the sound of the wording..."Runs but rough"..Which means some peabrain has started it after it being sat for years...Thats just cost the prospective new owner a couple of grand...Still i think its not too bad a price...If it was any higher then it would be very ambitious as it needs a few grand spent on it to bring it back to a nice condition, Chassis should be okay being early...You could be on the road with a useable 30+ year old rare hand built British sports car for around 4.5K...Obviously with need of further work to paint...Wheels...Trimmings...etc....

Did an 82 wedge have twin fuel fillers! I had an 82 280i and it had 1 filler with flap.Just wondered when this change took place in the wedge history.I have a prototype dh on a v reg and it has 1 fuel filler with flap.Odd, anybody know !
Only 1980 (early V reg and W reg) and 1981 (early X reg) had the twin fuel fillers with the uncovered crome caps by the time of (Y reg) in 1982 it was one filler with the flap so this car DH5121FI must have been made in 1981 then stood around for months if not a year and by the time it was sold it was 1982, in fact it says (10th month) october 1982. Also in 82 they changed the instruments and the speedo and rev counter were moved together instead of two smaller dials being in between them, and the front and rear bumpers were painted the same colour as the rest of the car not lighter or darker shades of whatever colour was used. This is a very early convertible. Probably one of the first 10. It would have been built late 1980. The first production convertible going by the bible was no 98 and the first car built in 1981 was no 148. I also noticed the reg number is one off the pre production 350I so this may have been a demonstrator and registered at a later date.
Sorry to sound a bit anorak but I have done a bit of research on these early Wedges as I own no 1. This was built in 1979 but not registered until 1982.
Richard.

Well i made some space and took the plunge, i just brought this Tasmin made an offer of £1600 and they accepted, it needs to be saved if it is a very early dhc and i did not want to see it go to scrap, i always wanted an early Tasmin these are so rare and when they have gone thats it no coming back. My plans are to save some dosh then restore it a bit at a time so i will let you know how i get on and might need some advice on things as i go on, Martin.
Many thanks Mark will do, i am sure i will need to get many things, the inner door trims are in the car boot the vendor says but as with every thing else i will have to see what condition they are in, Thanks also to Richard (wedgeone) as without his info on just how early the car is i might not have taken the plunge.
Well i am now the very happy owner of this very early Tasmin dhc the car arrived yesterday, its led a hard life 16 owners been outside a long time hoods green but rear plastic window in good condition and no tears holes in it just needs a good clean, been water in boot all trim peeling and dampish looks like it has not been hoovered out in years, has a cheep paint job on it not shiny but no marks or paint fade looks more black than blue must be a very dark blue, it has no keys for ignition or door locks and i have yet to work out now to open the early chrome twin fuel caps and no fuses, i have to leave the drivers door open because if shut you have to open from the inside by using the passenger door, good tyres on it looks ok underneath, engine have not had started yet no ignition key, but overall about what i expected, and i am still feeling good at saving this early car maybe only worth £1300 but the £1600 i paid not bad when you consider an early Datsun 240Z on ebay in need of more restoration than mine cost the buyer over £11,000 you could buy one of these in good condition for £4,000 a few years ago, now time to save some more money and get some keys made. martin.
